But the fact that the bicycle is as large as an SUV puts it back in the burbs. The hippie just hasn't moved out of his parents' house yet.

Can't we just call it Bob? Better yet lets not label it at all... put two ovoid fountains with black marble linings slightly apart joined by a nickel pedestrian bridge surrounded by bushy grasses and see how long people take to realize Arapaho Square is now Denver's Hipster 'hood.

I just can't help but be bothered by the fact that the SUV looks like it was abandoned in the middle of the street.

Work has started on the Hanover Speer Boulevard apartment project at 255 E Speer. Still no rendering yet, however.

Is this the entire triangular-shaped parcel between 18th & 19th, Wewatta and Chestnut minus the steam plant? I wonder if there are any plans to cover up or reclad the steam plant.

I seem to remember both parcels on Chestnut between 16th & 18th adjacent to the tracks being office proposals as well. We are rapidly losing the opportunity to get some condo towers in Union Station which is a damn shame..

Also, the entire block between 17th 18th Chestnut and CML has no announced use but is quite likely to be residential.

Ah that's right, I forgot about the affordable housing project along Chestnut. Good to hear about likely more residential next to the LRT station, hopefully something that maximizes its allowed height.

What's left that we don't know about at Union Station? A few parcels around King Soopers including the one across the street.

The hotel I am staying at in Kauai (population 60,000) is taller than every single thing being built in union station besides the platform.

I know, not a fair comparison.... But I still can't help but think we really failed by allowing 5 story stick buildings to get built all around union station.

There are no 22 story buildings on Kauai, which is what it would take to be taller than the Platform. Where are you, the Marriott? That's more like 12. And won't be replicated considering that island has height restrictions nowadays. Nice try, though.

LOL

Yup:

The tallest building in Kauai is the Kilohana Wing of the Kauai Marriott Resort and Beach club. This tower at 12 floors and 143 ft in height is the tallest building on the island of Kauai. It should remain the tallest for many years to come as the local Hawaiians were not happy about the tall building erected by the Marriott properties so the enacted a new building code saying any new building should be "no taller than a mature coconut tree."

Bunt do we have coconut trees in Denver?

You mean the three buildings going in that are stick frame? Out of roughly 15 buildings sites? That's a pretty gross characterization of the number of stick-frame buildings going in. Are a couple of the projects a lousy use of the site? Yes, but not to the degree that you are implying.

Kauai's a great island, but the Kauai Marriott sucks. Poipu Beach is better.

I don't know whats been posted about the Speer Blvd project, but it looks like it will be 6 stories, 222 units. Thats based on some job postings from Hanover in June.
