Interesting to see their location map and how much they are a suburb-only chain. Should do pretty well downtown as a sports bar/lunch place..
I guess if you want to pay 18 bucks for a small pizza. (when they revamped their menu they cranked the prices up by a good amount)

Boston Pizza's are a success because they are open late and by that fact and that fact alone they can charge the insane prices they do for their food. I personally don't mind their pizza once and a while and do go there for a late night option but a few drinks and a few dishes and you are staring down at a 70-80 dollar bill.

Either way they will probably do pretty well in that location.

Rob Feenie Restaurant by Cactus Club –300 Water Street –Opening 2015 (signature restaurant -new concept)

that's part of the ex-storeyum space. prime location for a Feenie spot.

It will be interesting to see if it is true feenie, fine dining restaurant or just a more expensive, rebranded cactus club.

On another note, surprised they are slotting in the second Hawksworth in the Jameshouse development.

I was in New West this past weekend and discovered Burger Burger is no longer. I am so sad. Hopefully, it's because the owners just wanted to retire and not because of lack of business.

Water Street Cafe is listed as 300 Water Street.

I was under the impression Glowbal acquired WSC a few years ago and had planned to turn it into an Italian Kitchen

There are a few fairly large spaces on Water with landlords holding out for a cactus/earls type deal.

The Keg Shangri-La is now under renovation for a Fall Opening.

I went by today and talked to someone who's working on the renovation.

A lot of the old Ki Restaurant furnishings have been removed.

Hmmm - doubt that name would fly with "The Nosherie" already open across the street.

Cactus Club's execs have been looking at Gastown for nearly a decade now. I remember when they had that space across from Chill Winston/Gassy Jack Statue.

I just noticed that a new Burger King is going up on Pender Street (next to Granville Street). It's only their 3rd Downtown location. That is still better than Wendy's and KFC with only 1 location in Downtown. Taco Bell hasn't even entered Vancouver soil yet, although there are a few in the suburbs.

McDonald's and A&W (both 7 locations) seem to reign Downtown multi-national fastfood burger scene.

Are rents Downtown so high that even multi-national burger chains cannot afford them?

Honestly. Burger King, Mcd's, A&W should be able to afford rent in downtown Vancity. I'm not convinced that Taco Bell would sell well in the city. Maybe they're doing just "ok" out in the suburbs.

I wonder when a landlord does secure a burger chain as a tenant, the chain forces a restrictive covenant of some sort into the lease. Also, a lot of condo buildings (like mine) pretty much forbid businesses from using fryers due to insurance issues. So, it's easier to get a Starbucks or Tim Horton's or Subway.

They make all their donuts in a factory in Ontario, freeze them, and then reheat them at the store in ovens:

Taco Bell used to be in Vancouver (The now Church's chicken on Fraser or Victoria near 49th) Not to mention MetroTown Centre (before consolidation)

It's strange since they have been somewhat successful in the burbs (but well propped up by KFC)
