JJ Bean opened at Lonsdale and 17th (at the base of "Local") with an interesting sky blue and wood motif

its not a bad price all things considered but it sounds like the best way would be to sell both parcels and then they will build new.

They could probably command 65/ft for that space i would guess as is especially with Patagonia taking the space on the corner. I am surprised they haven't tried to parcel more of the units on that block.

In other news Retail Insider is reporting that Sporting Life is looking for space in Vancouver in the 30-50k feet range. I have heard about their national expansion plans for a few years now from a few of my contacts. I am a little skeptical about their entry into the Vancouver market as they are largely an Ontario thing with an expansion into other provinces on the way after Fairfax dumped a pile of money into them. I can't see them taking that sort of space in downtown Vancouver, maybe in west/north van or maybe as part of the brentwood revamp. It will be interesting to see if people shop there in the end.

According to the new signage outside the PC reno, the 14 new mall tenants will open in the spring, before the fall 2015 Nordstrom opening. Haven't seen that confirmed anywhere before.

Got an email from Fitness World (I'm a member) announcing new locations in Lougheed Town Centre and Highstreet. Not sure if the Lougheed will be in addition to the existing branch in that small strip across from H-Mart or a replacement, but I'm happy. Parking will be so much better!

I doubt a Fitness World will rejuvenate the mall (it's not like City Square is a hotbed) but this is a nice amenity for Lougheed residents and people living around other nearby Skytrain stations.

I just went to Highstreet this past weekend. It's nice...I suppose? I didn't notice any residential component, as opposed to Morgan Crossing.

They are going into a consolidated strip of shops in between Wal Mart and Spencer's gifts on the second level.

This looks great!!! CityMarket on Lonsdale is fantastic and this will complement Whole Foods perfectly, giving shoppers another gourmet, yet slightly more traditional market option.

I also predict, long-term, that the remainder Park Royal North will gradually be turned 'inside-out' as more big international retailers choose to re-locate to the new Main St. extension or to be near Simons, I feel H&M is dying to be over there. The reduction in interior size will gradually continue IMO, perhaps one day will see the remainder become sort of a Main Street north.

Interesting all the new stalls with none lost, this would likely put them over their necessary ratio which makes me wonder if they are going to be losing some stalls along that N/S axis to really link the north and the south with streetfront retail.

Hasn't it always been Fall 2015?
