Yeah, I stopped by the site yesterday. Nothing to report.

I got a couple photos of the "S Fargo" tower. I'll post them later. It's mildly interesting. I know some of you liked the building better with out the yellow sign; at night it's off I noticed. Maybe someone would like to snap a picture... Make us feel like we're in 1997.

Here are two pics of the Boyer parking garage. This thing has to be done soon and I can only assume that once it is finished that they will start work on 151 tower. Let's hope that it gets built the way the last rendering shows, or that they keep adding a few more floors. The first photo is from the west on State Street and the second is from the east from the Boyer 101 parking garage.

I remember when this building was first announced that there was some discussion about the city not allowing the parking garage to front 200 East. They extended the building's first floor south to cover the parking garage which I like. However, I thought that it was going to be street level retail. There are no doors to the space on 200 East but instead looks like it will be office space with the entrance from the lobby. Retail would have been better but this is still better than the parking garage. I don't know how much demand for retail there would be at that location, but I bet that at least one retail spot for a deli type use would have been successful.

The Hyatt Hotel is about 95 percent done with the exterior. Probably will finish in October. I'm glad something is at that location. I know we want height around here but to go from an empty lot to two 6 story hotels in that locations is progress nevertheless.

That crane is never up in any pictures I've seen over the years and it's never up when I drive by it, even today. Does the crane operator only work one hour a day? Is this development even moving along?

Utah State Fairpark and Real Salt Lake team up on proposed soccer stadium

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah State Fairpark officials are considering a proposal from Real Salt Lake to build a minor league soccer stadium on the fairgrounds.

A new convention building and upgraded rodeo grounds would also be considered alongside the stadium...

...Building a convention center, rodeo grounds and a multisport facility could cost up to $47 million in addition to the $33 million needed for repairs, according to CRSA. But RSL has proposed to invest in a stadium that would host its minor league affiliate in the USL Professional Division, through a public-private partnership with the Utah State Fairpark Corp., according to Fairpark Executive Director Michael Steele.

The stadium would seat up to 6,000 spectators and host as many as 15 home games per year. RSL hopes to construct the field with artificial turf, which would allow players to use the facility throughout the year. The stadium would be built on what is now the parking lot east of the rodeo grounds...


Regional Atletic Complex

...Last year, RSL made a $7.5 million donation in the building of Salt Lake City's Regional Athletic Complex, which will feature 16 multipurpose fields and a stadium with 1,500 permanent seats surrounding an artificial turf field.

The $22.8 million facility will host regional tournaments and local sporting events starting at the end of summer next year, according to Salt Lake City spokesman Art Raymond.

The proposed stadium at the Fairpark could potentially work in concert with the Regional Athletic Complex in garnering participation in the sport and support for RSL, Raymond said.

"We think that RSL's proposal with the Fairpark complements what we're doing at the Regional Athletic Complex very nicely," he said. "I think we have a very soccer-friendly city."

The proposal for additions to the Fairpark would include finishing the rodeo grounds, which have been under construction since the 1980s, Steele said. The 50,000-square-foot convention center would be built on the far east side of the property. Historical buildings would likely remain in place and be brought up to usable standards, he said...

A lot of people have already posted pictures of the crane but I might as well add mine to the pot. What I like about having the crane up is it gives you a good idea of where the building will sit in the skyline from different angles. Driving in from davis county this morning I could see that the crane is just to the left of 99 west, as you get up to 600 N it is kind of hidden behind 99 west but I think the building will still be at least partially visible. The crane is roughly at the south west corner of the future tower.

Has anyone heard any specific dates for the main structure of 151 to begin? The additional height/roof design was approved a few months ago. The parking garage is finishing up. There is no movement on the building site.

Im hoping someone can induldge me with some of the best pictures over the years of downtown's skyline with cranes in the pictures? Im sure the City Creek construction years will be the ones with the most cranes. But are there any other pictures of the skyline with cranes that anyone would like to post?

The 80's would of had a lot of tower cranes with new towers going up each year. Those photos are a lot harder to find.

You will not see movement on the 151 State Street site for quite a while as they haven't even submitted building plans in order to obtain a permit yet. The parking garage is moving forward as it also serves 102 S. 200 E.

This is just as I suspected. It was a race between 151 and 111 to see who could get the shovel into the ground the soonest. The prize is Goldman Sachs. I sure hope I'm wrong, but I believe this could very well be the case.
