Very nice, but surely that's not a conversion. That looks absolutely nothing like the existing building. It's not even the same number of floors.

Notice on the the AFTER pictures, the building is labeled 222. Also you can see 250 Piedmont Rd. that Paces Properties bought and is converting to apartment.

I know it's that address, but I can't imagine it being cost effective to turn that building into those renderings. I assume they're going to raze it.

On the architects website it says conversion.

That is probably a dead proposal - it has the Cingular logo in one of the pics. I have some knowledge this is the architectural firm designing the 222 conversion. Someone I know sent me the link. That's all I can discuss.

I see six floors on both before and after.

Perhaps I'm just not understanding this design, but I see at least eight (or nine if I count the rooftop patio). Are all of the extra floors fake?

It's not unheard of to use the bones of the existing structure and have additions/extensions added.

And I too love this design, no matter how they arrive at the finished product.

You are correct! Once all of the blocks were put in place, they wrapped it with a black moisture barrier (?) and started filling in dirt on and around this "structure"...at least until their remote-controlled Wall-E dirt compactor died and they had to bring in another one. LOL

Also, as an added bonus, I captured one of their MANY detonations. They've been blasting away at something (presumably granite) for a couple of weeks One "boom" per day. I hear and feel them, but finally got one on video.

And I just missed another one 5 minutes ago. They blow the horn 3 times, then say "Fire in the hole!" three times, then BOOM. I'm right across the street so it shakes the whole building. The building next to this lot is a movie soundstage, so I hope they're coordinating their blasting with the filming. I'd be one pissed off director if they messed me up everyday.

Great video, you can see your building rattle like an earthquake.

New Renderings, Hope for Long-Delayed Trinity Triangle Project

Sitting on the high-traffic (11,330 cars a day) triangle between Twain's and Kimball House, the project will have 210 apartments as well as three spaces, ranging from 1,250 to 2,900 square feet, for restaurants or retail. One rendering shows a large DQ logo in one of the retail spaces and for the sake of soft serve cravings across Decatur, let's hope that part is accurate.
