I do to. I thought I heard a couple of years ago that they were only supposed to be temporary and were going to be replaced. But I'm glad nothing came as that and hope they remain a permanent fixture.

Chip Wilson paid to make them permanent.

What is?

Vision Vancouver keep using the excuse that they have to allow rampant development to ensure affordbale housing, yet little of it is truly affordable. Example: King Edward Green right next to the King Edward Canada Line station - townhomes starting at $1.2 mil, yeah, that's affordable.

Sick of this off-topic garbage, I shouldn't add to it.

Vancouver would be much more affordable if city hall mandated single family homes everywhere. We can also just do away with the notion of a market economy since obviously developers just enjoy building empty buildings in the sky that no one actually lives in - city bureaucrats know much better than the market.

It will likely be in excess of $1000 per square foot as the average. In that being said you'll have units that are a lot higher than that, and you'll have units closer to the bridge and lower well below that.

They have a big "invite only" event this week... so maybe sales haven't started just yet.

Vancouver tower makes enemies before it’s built; some complain units offered for sale to buyers in Asia first

From that article:

Um... yup.

I think the Calgary version is nicer than ours. The Vancouver one is slathered over largely because of its unusual bitten-out curve, but I don't think it meets all the hype it gets.
I'll get flamed for this, no doubt.

They got their disclosure this past Thursday. They have been signing deals as quick as they can make the appointments. The SF $ is ranging from 700ish psf as high as $4000 psf - with an average in the neighbourhood of $1400-$1500 psf

I'm sure people in Vancouver are loving this news. Id read the comments on that article but I value my sanity lol.

I would love to see the structural drawings on that building, must be pretty interesting.

Sigh... this article on Vancouver House will just add to the hype that the Asians are keeping prices high... whereas in reality, if our numbers are anywhere near Victoria's foreign ownership is in the low single-digit percentages and more or less limited to higher-end properties like Vancouver House.

SLIGHTLY OFF-TOPIC: How come Victoria can provide stats on foreign ownership and Vancouver's real estate industry relies on anecdotes. Things that make you go hmmm...

When I visited the presentation centre a few months ago I recieved a detailed brochure/mag. It includes the structural drawings for the building. I can post a pic if you like.

Which is exactly why this story made the cover of the Province.
