Something is being planned for that giant gravel parking lot right?

^ Yup. Last I heard it was owned by the city, and is reserved for the new Vancouver General Hospital. I think it's to be mixed use with apartments and an office tower incorporated. It's been so long since I've heard anything though.

The other waterfront lots to the left and and right of the photograph are owned by developers, and will see construction very soon.

Most Vancouver SSP members are extremely excited by all the new developments that are happening at the bottom half of the photograph. Six years ago, the area at the bottom-left was a bunch of open lots and rundown buildings.

^ You mean St. Pauls Hospital, and last I heard they aren't going to move the hospital anymore. That whole area in the left foreground is changing more rapidly right now than any other in the city.

So that huge lot (Vancouver's biggest, I'd assume) has no plans for anything in the foreseeable future? Damn. I was really looking forward to seeing it get developed in the next 5-10 years.

The conspiracy theorist is me feels that part of the reason for not doing so is because building the hospital there helped solidify why the viaducts should remain (they would provide a direct emergency response route from downtown to the hospital's front door) and we can't have that

Again, just my fun little conspiracy (probably not true, but there is a potential connection there... even if it is a tiny secondary back of the head reason).

We can only speculate at this point, but seeing how fast development is advancing in the eastern section of the downtown area, that field will be the best piece of property around in 5 years. I could easily see it being developed in the next 10 years. Since it's so close to re-emerging Chinatown, it should garner a lot of interest.

I watched a documentary about Imelda Marcos. In one part some random guy being interviewed says Imelda started a film festival in Manila, one that she wanted to "rival Cannes and Toronto."

So the big TO is on the map over there at least.

That Toronto picture is really cool. I will be in Toronto from Monday to Thursday and hope to get a lot of pictures of all the construction going on downtown.
Will be staying at the Royal York so I will be in walking distance of lots of places.

I thought that TIFF was widely considered one of the top festivals? My understanding was that it wasn't really even up for debate, TIFF is a huge event.

That second one may be the best skyline shot I've ever seen of Edmonton! Partly due to the cool fog effect, but also due to the skyline looking so dense and the highrises in the foreground expanding the urban vibe.

So i couldn't help but notice the popular television series 'Suits' which takes place 'New York' is actually filmed in Toronto.

You can see many of the actors around Bay-Adelaide center when they're filming, and a couple of times they've mistakenly shown the CN Tower in the background.

Also, by far the best Edmonton shot I've seen.
