It isn't Centergy. It's just being built by the same developer.

I believe Tech Square Tower is Centergy North. They both are stated to have 230 units, including 1 to 4 bedroom units. They are the same building.

I don't recall Invest Atlanta having anything to do with Centergy, or anything being mentioned about entrepreneurship or affordable housing. In fact, the Invest Atlanta meeting was in "July." Do they normally decide to invest in things AFTER they're already being built?

Maybe SaportaReport just doesn't know what year it is...

It is the same building, and after looking at the renders, it's the only conclusion to draw.

The dorm project is the one under construction-- the site to the south of Tech Square will be the home of the Ga Tech High Performance Computing Center-- They are in the process of selecting a developer as a part of a public-private partnership-- I believe--

Did you guys actually read the article? If this is Centergy North, then Invest Atlanta is giving $70 million to a project that's already fully-funded... and if that's the case, either I don't understand what Invest Atlanta's purpose actually is, or there's some serious corruption going on here.

Yes I actually read it. I seriously doubt a 3rd student tower is going to go up there with the exact same 230 units as Centergy North, as I already pointed out.

I'll agree with the $70 million on an already under construction project, but it could be that it was just announced, that the deal was just finalized, or that Maria was a little behind on the article. I'm not sure on details.

Yes, and its nothing new. They tried to give money to an apartment complex in Buckhead that had already been funded, built, and was operational before Howard Shook (city council person in buckhead who is as fairly anti-InvestAtlanta) stepped in (I believe they still got Development Authority of Fulton County funds, so it didnt make much difference to them). InvestAtlanta is such a crock... http://buckheadview.com/2013/10/02/npu-delays-action-on-buckhead-project-tax-incentives/ There are more articles about it too if you search.

The Atlanta Transit Agency's Big Plan to Convert Parking Lots into Housing

http://www.citylab.com/cityfixer/2014/07...onvert-parking-lots-into-housing/374735/

MARTA, the transit authority for metro Atlanta, is quietly becoming a player in the real estate world, and it has its excess parking to thank. In the past few months, the agency has pushed forward with plans to develop under-used parking lots at three stations—King Memorial, Avondale, and Edgewood/Candler Park—into mixed-use commercial and residential buildings. And MARTA expects to secure at least two more such deals by early next year.

LOL,I just saw this on the news.
But why is it taking so long for 1138 Peachtree and 1125 Peachtree to release some renderings, does anyone know why?

A project being "financed" is vague. Developers usually get one mortgage for construction and then another for the term, after construction. This may be the term funding.

Probably because 1138 peachtree is, at this stage at least, a complete pipe dream without funding that gets reannounced every 3-5 years to try to drum up good publicity for the development.

Re: Centergy/InvestAtlanta: Invest Atlanta specifically says the funding is for construction costs.

The author never responded, but Curbed is saying it's Centergy, which evidently (according to Saporta) hasn't broken ground yet and is located just north of itself

http://atlanta.curbed.com/archives/2014/...d-entrepreneur-dorm-near-tech-square.php

I guess my takeaways from this are that Saporta doesn't proofread and Invest Atlanta is even worse than I thought.
