I particularly enjoy this view for I imagine how much better it will look like once the Bell centre and future phases of the Cadillac fairview project go up. The skyline now looks incomplete and is punctured by these huge gaps. In 2 years, the gap between le 1250 R-L and Le 1000 will be gone. In 10 years the gap between Le 1000 and Tour de la bourse will be totally gone too. I'm digging it.

Metrotown has sure grown up since I worked there (1995). I heard that nearby Middlegate mall is long gone.

Does Vancouver have a concentrated business district in that sea of buildings? They look mostly residential.

It does but it's obviously not big like Toronto or Calgary. The second pic I posted probably shows it best.

Downtown Vancouver has 33.7million sq/ft of office space and 5.9milllion sq/ft of residential space - to give you an idea.

You can see in this shot how expansive downtown Vancouver is becoming. Southeast False Creek is starting to make the downtown area look even bigger, with still lots more to come. Then on top of that, new developments in the DTES and Northeast False Creek. Without much fanfare, Downtown Vancouver steams along.

There is currently work being done on the design for a new tower at the Royal Centre. The Royal Centre is currently the tallest office building in BC at 145 meters, and this rumoured tower is set to be taller than that.
