I started a new job this week and this is the view I have from my new place, this is the first time I see our skyline from this angle.

You'll be in a great position to see 111 and 151(?) go up. That gap is even easier to see from the east side than other vantage points in the city.

Gusam, I was creepy enough to realize that based on where you took the picture and the Asian isle sign being in the frame, you either work in the dan jones building or in the one next to it ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Yes I'm pretty excited to see 111 start rising.

That's almost the the view I have. I'm just across the street (to the West and a little to the left, The Ben Albert) from you gusam26. I was able to see most of Crossroads and ZCMI come down and then the CCC go up. Now I will get to see 111, 151 and possibly the new CCH go up. Anthony

So the Hyatt House is coming a long Probably will be done late September-October.

They have most of the first level of the Marriott complete. The two buildings hide the ugliest building in Salt Lake a bit.

We are the ones that make project specific threads, they are the ones that jam everything in to their dev thread and make useless question threads.

There are three stickies, and the other important threads usually stay in the group of 8 threads that recirculate to the top.

I think we are annoying for making extra threads outside of regions and transit. I'm less interested in contributing pictures to ghettoized threads for one project that will get easily buried under all our frivolous threads. City Creek was the only project that justified a thread. We look pathetic making things like the UPAC it's own thread. Makes us seem like we're trying to punch above our weight.

S.P., Ha Ha, don't scold us too much though. The UPAC is a very large project, because it not only includes the PAC, but also a major tower. In addition, it will also contain a lot of incidental development related to Regent Street. I also think the CCH is thread worthy, especially if it's our new tallest, and is more of the type of CCH that went up here in Los Angeles. A major tower, relative to it's specific city should not be resented for having a thread. I certainly wouldn't resent Denver for having the Four Seasons Thread, etc. or Boise for having the Zions Tower Thread.

Jubguy, Typically we wouldn't create a new thread for a highrise like the CCH until it has actually been announced with dates and there's some specs and renderings available. Until then, let's leave the discussion to the Salt Lake City Thread.

Hey, I know I'm in the minority here. I just want to be on the record with my dissent. For all our other mountain west friends to see. I-i tried.

I'm kind of 50/50 on this one. While anything that has to do with us getting a new tallest deserves it's own thread, i can't help but think that without having 111/PAC and maybe CCH in the SLC main thread that doesn't leave much more to talk about in here besides just a bunch of mid-rise apartment developments.

What's this about Salt Lake City and an NFL team?

Sorry but it's NEVER going to happen.

An MLB team seems more likely if somebody moves, but I imagine it's still quite unlikely.

I don't really care whether we get another professional sports league, though. The Bees have been a great team for us for 20 years, and the U of U and BYU certainly feeds plenty of the football fervor. Besides, it's nice to see a city split between fans of so many teams.

People in here also keep talking about Salt Lake City annexing South Salt Lake. While I certainly wouldn't mind seeing that happen, how realistic is it? Has there been any sort of talk or discussion or even buzz of any such thing happening or is it all just hopes and dreams and speculation?

I don't see that as a bad thing, though. You could also incorporate general Salt Lake City development news and dreams, as well. I like seeing and talking about the "lesser" developments, and fear that they would simply get drowned out in the midst of a major project. After all, it's all of these mid-rise apartment buildings and mixed-use development that really bring life to a city, isn't it?

But either way I wouldn't complain.

I've been an advocate for a long time about combining the Utah County and Provo Threads, and the Salt Lake and Sugar House Threads. However, I don't quite understand why anyone would be concerned about how un p.c. we come off if we have a thread for a project the size of the UPAC/111 Tower/Regent St. or the CCH. This is especially true since Denver in the recent past has been more than enthusiastic about creating threads for major projects such as the Four Seasons. I think the vast majority of forum members over in Denver could care less if we have a thread for UPAC and or the CCH. Like most of us they barely have time to keep up with their own developments. I have to sacrifice my own local Los Angeles Central forum in favor of Salt Lake Forums. There just isn't enough time in the day to devote attention to both regions.

I agree. I'm especially glad that members like Future Mayor and Asies1981 are keeping excellent track of these many new mid-rise and mixed-use apartment projects. They're making a big dent in the urbanization and appeal of the Metro core that is our capital of Salt Lake City. As has been stated innumerable times before, the more mid-rise development in the CBD, the sooner more pressure comes to bear for the development of ever taller vertical.

Another interesting little fact S.P., that you should always remember. In all the years I've been a member, the front page has always been about dead even as far as the number of Salt Lake City/Utah related threads and Denver/Colorado related threads. Typically there might be a difference of one, which can either swing Denver's way or Salt Lake's way. Right now for what it's worth, Denver and Salt Lake each have 20 threads, Boise has twelve, and there's a general Mountain West sports thread. Why should anyone consider us more annoying than Denver for creating so called extra threads when the two metro's always run the same total number. So basically the fact is, if Denver were complaining it's the kettle calling the pot black.

If you look at the threads on the first page we have a disproportionately large amount compared to Colorado and Idaho. When Cirrus did the thread polling if Denver should separate (which most Coloradoeans were against), there was a lot of common expressed frustration over our threads burying everything. We have a thread for Lagoon... I'm just saying. Maybe we can do better.

At the end of the day, I love how enthusiastic we are about development. I think we appreciate infill a lot more than most as evidenced by us following and cataloging everything.

Bud, please explain...Denver has 20 related threads on the first page and Salt Lake has 20. How is that way disproportionate? Maybe I'm over simplifying it by the sheer number, but I'm sincerely interested in your point.
