I really want this one to move forward. I'd love more projects like this in town.

State Bank & Trust finances Loudermilk condo project

At least one lender is buying into the market for new intown condos.

Granted, it’s a small project.

State Bank & Trust Co. has originated a roughly $12 million construction loan for Seventh Midtown, a 20-unit condo project in Midtown at at 867 Peachtree Street.

I am very thrilled by the movement on 867 Peachtree. While not a tall building, it definitely fits a much needed void. There is a dearth of condo units in Midtown. Considering that the price point for entry is $700,000, one would think this would linger. On the contrary, there are already 10 units pre-sold. Hopefully this will jump start more for sale units in the Midtown sub-market.

I also love the fact that the Starbucks will return to the base of the building. Now if we could get some movement on 811 and 762 Peachtree.

that's perhaps one of my favourite things about this project, however, i would like to see the same effort made for local retailers. for example, i would really like to see novare incorporate carolyn's cafe (which i have never been to but i hear is fantastic) into their new skyhouse building at 14th and west peachtree.

Nice. I'm depressed about how horrible it's going to look but really excited about what's going to be on the inside.

Hopefully someday they can afford to build a proper museum closer in, and that lot can be redeveloped into something that doesn't treat the streets so badly. I guess if anything can bring them the revenue to do that, it would be having what might be the most important puppet collection in the world

Builder Picked for Edgewood/Candler Park MARTA Mixed-Use

MARTA is again pushing forward in its efforts to maximize the potential of its intown parking lots. Columbia Ventures, a developer with roots in the Edgewood neighborhood, will build a mixed-use node on a five-acre parcel surrounding the Edgewood-Candler Park MARTA Station, Invest Atlanta announced today. The economic development authority issued a request for proposals in March, after identifying the Edgewood-Candler Park Station as one of 10 MARTA transit hubs ripe for redevelopment. Columbia Ventures' experience of building in Edgewood apparently went a long way; the company has built more than 400 housing units across Edgewood — including senior housing, market-rate housing, affordable housing and townhomes — over the last decade. "Redevelopment of Edgewood has been quietly happening over the last decade and this project is the capstone to many of these efforts," Garry Long, president of Organized Neighbors of Edgewood, said in a press release. Redevelopment efforts could begin as soon as next year.

Columbia Ventures plans to tackle the revitalization as part of two phases. The first phase — expected to break ground in 2015 — will include about 200 units of market-rate housing. Officials promise the project will be built "with minimal disruption to existing MARTA operations." The second phase is expected to bring an additional 235 units. One phase "will include neighborhood commercial opportunities" and the full project should wrap by 2019, officials said.

MARTA's proactive CEO/GM Keith Parker said the development will be a sign of the times. "Transit oriented development is the wave of now, and we are excited to launch another project that will help simplify many people's lives," Parker said in the release. "We're listening to what metro Atlantans want when it comes to transportation and quality of life. Fewer and fewer people are willing to spend hours in traffic, and they want the convenience of leaving work and getting home without the aggravation of sitting on the interstate."

Just down the MARTA tracks, another sizable residential project will soon break ground near the Edgewood Retail District. A five-story apartment project under the Elan brand is slated to consume about four acres across Moreland Avenue from the Edgewood shops. The development would include 285 apartments and 16,000 square feet of ground-level retail, fronting Moreland.

There is certainly plenty of room for infill there. As I recall that apartment building is one of two proposed for that site.

98 14th Street

Good Morning - Is there any new information regarding 98 14th Street? Is the project still a solid proposal?
I was just curious about the status of all the various proposed towers in the Atlanta Metro area - Please pardon me if this has been discussed recently, I haven't had the chance to read through the threads that much with my busy work schedule.
I know that some of the projects aren't due to break ground until 2015, 2016 etc. I was just wondering if there are any new updates - everyone stay safe out there and have a great week...

I've only been in Atlanta for about 4 years and I was looking through one of the project and construction lists and there was a rendering for the Advanced Research Computing and Analytics Building. I'm not familiar with the proposal so I was wondering if that proposal is relevant or if that project is considered dead. Thanks in Advance.

That is likely referencing the project at Georgia Tech.

According to the posted schedule, they are in design until 2015 and will break ground sometime that year as well. I haven't seen any other updates lately.

I believe this is the tower slated for the Crum + Forster site. Still active.
