FYI, I can confirm that Milestone's will actually be in the mix at Lansdowne.

They have filed their application for a liquor sales license with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario.

Incidentally, it would seem that OSMUG must already know that their "proposed" names for the streets at Lansdowne are already approved (again, why bother to wait for process?), as Milestone's gave the address of their new store as 325 Marché Way, Unit 101, even though City Council still hasn't actually approved the names.

Nope. Just pointing out that OSMUG shouldn't be surprised that -- despite their charm offensive this weekend making nice with their neighbours in the Glebe -- a lot of folks living in the vicinity won't be upset if "Shops at Lansdowne" (more banality on the Canal) proves not to be a grand success, and might happily grease the skids for it.

Well, a) you didn't answer the question, and b) you seem to know exactly where its going, so it seems they have satisfied your alleged objection. Forgive me if I don't get on board with the idea of wasting the public resources of a licensing board for you to have "a bit of fun". At some point a sense of civic responsibility has to trump your seemingly endless supply of self-righteousness.

However, if you use logic like this to oppose the liquor license, I am looking forward to enjoying a beer at Lansdowne in the near future.

Just curious -will you eat your words if this revitalizes the glebe and surrounding areas? I mean, everybody eats food right ...and many of us watch movies and wear clothes... and from what i gather i understand you live within walking distance and have a place to park near by. So I guess Im kind of confused... is it all the construction that has been so upsetting for you, or is it your feeling that this was a project created through lies and deception that has you reeling?

Why would I file an objection...?

As it stands there's NOT ENOUGH drinking establishments on site. I plan on writing encouraging MORE liquor licences for Lansdowne.

This place is supposed to be a party. The beer has got to flow!

While TD Place will have an official opening ceremony today, Hamilton will not.

Tim Horton Stadium is behind schedule and the Ti-Cats will have to play their first two home games at McMaster University.

Mac normally accommodates 6000 fans. I imagine they must be bringing in some temporary bleachers for the Cats.

They said that it's basically a dry run game simulation, so I'm assuming that they'll have the shuttles going. I intend to give that a try.

When Scotiabank Place became CTC the signs were dropped right into the dumpsters. They're huge, which make storage a pain, but also relatively cheap (just sheet metal and plastic) so they damage easily. Size also makes auctioning them off difficult, and the sponsor likely wants control over their brand.

TD Place at Lansdowne officially opening Wednesday night

Ottawa Redblacks season-ticket holders will get their first chance to explore the football team’s refurbished home Wednesday evening at the grand opening of TD Place at Lansdowne.

Mayor Jim Watson will officially open the stadium at a 5:30 p.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony with Roger Greenberg, the chairman of the Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group, and TD Bank senior vice-president Chris Stamper.

Fans will be free to explore the stadium from 6 to 8 p.m. There will also be player introductions at 7 p.m., after which fans will be allowed on the field for autographs.

The event is also a test run of the shuttles that Redblacks officials are urging fans to take to games this season. The shuttles leave from various park-and-ride locations throughout the city.

The Redblacks play their first-ever home game on July 18 at 7 p.m. against the Toronto Argonauts. The game is sold out.
