Navy Pier Redevelopment Meeting

7/8/14 6PM
Northwestern Law School's Thorne Auditorium
375 E. Chicago Ave
1st Floor

Also happening on July 8th is a Public Meeting from 1 to 7 pm at the Drake Hotel.  This is hosted by CDOT and is a community meeting for
getting comments on the Lake Shore Drive redevelopment.

I don't have a clone and will probably be attending the West Loop meeting as that neighborhood is 🞵🞵🞵 backwards. I hope that others will attend the NP meeting. I think it hilarious that Reilly be against the 740 Superior project, claiming traffic and "ambition" be the issue with all the goings on at and around the pier, the top tourist attraction in the state, drawing 8,000,000. A redevelopment and a bike flyover, but yet those intersections are okay I suppose .

I vaguely recall renders being posted some time ago of this specific tower, which looks very familiar. If this is built, it would indeed be a very happy 4th for Chicago.

Fifield has been floating that tower around for a while. Same image and everything.

^ lol

It does seem to be a bit of a modernist pastiche. The same kind of thinking that gave us Louisville's Museum Tower.

Oak Park - Forest Tower

New sign

Existing parking garage - to be demo'd

Old building - back in 2009 shortly after the Waffel house and the Grocery store had been evicted.

A render of things to come

Wow, good news. I'd almost given up hope that anything would be built anytime soon.

The density of the proposal is nice, but I like that old limestone and slate retail building... You don't see a lot of quality materials like that anymore.

Yeah me too. It's too bad it's sitting where it is. I'm a sucker for simple stone buildings like that. And copper gutters too.

Fortunately there are several suburbs with a borderline abundance of nice single story retail buildings like this around Chicago. Park Ridge and Evanston both come to mind.

Looks like the planned tower at 625 W Division has found its financing.
