Here' an update about the Seaholm/Green Water projects:
The Green Water Office Tower and the Hotel Tower should be U/C by 2016. Gensler has finished designing the office project but hasn't released renderings to the public. The second residential tower won't be done until 2020.
ECC is in design phase and the developers plan a 2015 start.
Nice to be able to read a complete article. It really spells out what is happening in that part of downtown and gives a good idea of the construction schedule too. I am eager to see the start of construction on the 400,000 plus square foot office tower. Austin needs all the office construction it can get downtown. More office space equals more jobs for downtown residents.
Well, from what I know, ECC should be starting in about a year or so. It has potential to be home to some amazing buildings. Some very tall amazing buildings There aren't any real renderings yet.....but it's on track.

The ABJ article I linked to in another post did say the developers are planning to start next year.
Just heard through my "grapevine" that the following high-end hotel brands are inquiring/researching/taking a look at the Austin market:
*These are listed in no particular order; what comes of this, I don't know. But, I thought it was intriguing. Austin is becoming an international destination!*
-Andaz (at least their second look; the other of which I am aware was for the old Concordia Univ. site)
-Ritz Carlton (at least their second look; the other of which I am aware was back in the late 80's...for a hotel where the apartments are just NW of Barton Creek Square Mall)
-Edition
-Radisson Blu
-Valencia Group (a second hotel)
-TWELVE (still looking at Austin)
-Autograph Collection
-21c (still looking at Austin)
-Design Hotels (I believe that may already be involved with the "South Congress Hotel")
-SLS
-St. Regis
-Le Méridien
-The Luxury Collection
-W (Yes...not kidding; W Austin has surpassed expectations; Can't happen? Well, Atlanta has 3 W's...never say never!)
There may be others; but, these were what I was told...
I know it's unlikely, and by unlikely I mean I'm pretty sure they don't have hotels in this hemisphere, but I would love to see a Kempenski here. I stayed in the San Lawrenz on Għawdex, Malta, and at their hotels in Bakı and Ulaanbaatar.
A RIU hotel would be nice too, especially because they tend to have a habit of building very tall buildings in cities. The Riu Panamá Plaza was absolutely excellent. Of course, all of these are pie-in-the-sky hopes at this point but a guy can dream...
Also, I'll be out of the country from the 12th to August 10th so I'm relying on y'all to keep up with the photo updates
The first Kempinski hotel in the states was in Addison north of Dallas in the late 80's. It was called the Grand Kempinski. I think it's an Intercontinental today. Northwest corner of Beltline and the Dallas North Tollway.
