Those who didn't want the signature Nordstrom sandstone will be disappointed. Looks OK to me though.

This morning, I was reminded how reflective the east windows are onto Granville Street. The reflected sunlight was almost uncomfortably warm on skin. Time to test it out with an egg on the sidewalk?

I'm sure decorative trees with shades will be planted along Granville sidewalks once the building is completed.

The 700 block of Granville is the Granville Mall reviatlization's "event space" - no trees planned (plus the Canada Line station is directly below close to the surface).

Pics by me today:

Stepped awning and its impact on spandrel:

I see the mystery of whether the Granville St emergency stairwell will have fireproof walls has been solved too.
(I expected the emergency stairwells would be fireproofed, but this picture proves the doubters wrong)

If Nordstrom fails in Canada perhaps EATON'S will re-emerge and re-clad the entire building in window-less white terrazzo.

seriously though maybe i am wrong in thinking that the stone was chosen and the building designed to nordstroms wishes, i wonder if they would change it easily at some point in the future
