Actually, I like the design. When I drive by, I notice how elements of the Pei design are continued (though not always literally) in the other sections of the building.

Post Alexander Buckhead - Planning another high-rise???
Quote:
Post is working on a number of urban apartment projects, including a second high-rise phase to Post Alexander (above) in Atlanta's tony Buckhead financial district.

The Bisnow reports have become such a joke with how terrible their writing has become. The reference to the Post Phase II project is that it is a high-rise/tower. NOT that there will be a second tower coming.

The writing is so terrible they have to pen "tony" to Buckhead. It's beyond informal and annoying to read.

Yes, this article is especially poorly written. With that said, I live on Longleaf Drive which is one street over from the Post Alexander development. My neighbors and I have noticed that all of the rental houses on N. Strafford have sold recently and there is talk of a 6 high-rise development with a Wholefoods in the planning stage. Also proposed is a cut in to 400 from this development. It is rumored to be joint venture partnership with Post and Cousins.

That could be an interesting concept...but I find it difficult to see Cousins and Post properties in a joint venture in this market considering it would be a conflict with Cousin's venture with Gables at Emory Point and Cousins' track record on other mixed-use projects is a bit more out of reach than Post's comfort zone- which is mostly just residential while Cousins would be more interested in office, condo, and/or retail components. But as you said it's a rumor.

Wow! Lots of construction! No telling what the skyline will look like in 10 years.

This is very good. Well beyond anything I could do. As an ongoing visual guide to Midtown development, I wonder if you could shade the under construction and proposed buildings different colors, Green/Red or whatever you want, and update as construction starts?

Great idea. For now it's just the 2 student towers U/C. I'll wait til something else gets started and update it.

In my view One Museum Place is still a disappointment. In any other location these buildings would be terrific and welcomed. But this is a loss to the potential of that location that is probably one of the best architectural mid-or high-rise potentialities in the city. Of course it is better than a vacant lot, but even a park would have been a better use of this space. After all, this is directly opposite one of the world's recognized masterpieces of architecture, notably the Richard Meier building. A pity.

Respectfully i disagree. I think a mid-rise/high-rise at this location would have seemed out of place. Not to mention it could have cast shadows on one of the most prominent pieces of architecture in Atlanta, the High Museum.

As long as the developer uses high end materials befitting a structure in this location, I think it will be a great addition to Midtown. I don't remember what was there before, but I do remember nobody on this forum morning the loss.

Just my $.02

Seems like that would be hard to do, since the Lenox exit is nearby.

If I'm not mistaken that Post tower is already under construction.

Is the rendering accurate in that there is not going to be a big gate restricting vehicle access right off of Peachtree Street? That would be nice, but I assume it isn't the case.

I agree the project is a big disappointment. Also, shadows would only be an issue during the summer before 9AM. During winter months and after summer sunrise, a hypothetical highrise building's shadow would be cast north and east of the High.

I like One Museum Place and think it fits the area very nicely. That isn't a block full of high-rises. To correct Atlanta3000, it's actually a mid-rise and will be very close to the height of its neighbors.

I'm sure there won't be a gate closing the courtyard off from Peachtree; that's intended to be a public area. Resident parking will be underground.

RS,
I was referencing the prior development plan for One Museum Place.

Ah, I see... I remember that proposal. I'm surprised so many would rather see something like that. It seems to me that the best way to preserve the High's character is to leave it some space and not surround it with giant towers that compete for attention

They recently put signage up for this, by the way. I took this photo of the site about a month ago:
