That's lame. Everyone else is happy to do updates in the compilation section of the forum, where everyone can participate instead of going to these segregated individual city forums for updates. Why are Austinites so shy?

Look at the Philadelphians, they're a proud bunch that have over 100 posts of nothing but their opinions (no updates) every single day. And when they do get updates, the thread gains 150 new posts a day. Austinites can take some pride notes from that.

The cities with sub forums tend to have less activity in their compilation threads. Apparently people don't have time to double post everything. If you like reading a "100 posts of nothing but opinios" stick to the other threads.

You do have a point. Cities like Austin, Toronto, and NYC are low key in the compilation section because their own sub forums but I just want to point back a year to when Austin's compilation thread was legitimately active and to cite the 2 or 3 years prior to that when it remained aggressively active.

This thread should be the thread we use.... it's the one everyone clicks on when they go to skyscraperpage.com and there is an energy created when you see austin is always up at the top of that list... I can't wait to see what's posted next!

I agree that we should post more in this thread as well. City Compilations is the first section the majority of people see. Not everyone goes into the sub forum so in order to keep a wider audience in the loop then its a good idea to add posts on this thread.

It's hard to balance. There were so many projects to track that a sub-forum became necessary. I do think it's a combination of some forum users, myself included, forgetting about this thread, and there not being a ton of new announcements right now. Lot of projects that we are either waiting to finish, or to go from proposal to reality. I don't think we will see many new proposals until financiers see how the market absorbs all this new construction. Maybe posting some picture updates in here on occasion in addition to new project announcements.

I prefer to be able to pick and choose which projects i want to monitor. Sub-forums are great for that.
I know if I really want to explore other cities to look for Sub-forums.
I don't mind "workin' for it" a little.

I don't think Houston has any basements, but if I ever find myself tied up in one, I'll let you know.

And I haven't gone anywhere. I have been downtown lately taking some photos.

The sub-forums have been around for about 5 years I believe. Most of the minor updates - things like utility permits, crane permits, etc., get posted to each individual building thread, while the more major updates like building elevations with heights and renderings get posted in those threads, and here. It's just that we're in a lull right now. We've seen almost every rendering for every new project, and we have heights now for just about every new project. Now we're mostly just waiting to hear if they'll break ground. And waiting on those rumored projects that haven't announced yet.

Took a long stroll around downtown this afternoon and snapped some photos on my iPhone, not the best quality but gives you an idea of all the construction going on right now in Austin!

I wish they'd add some tables w/ umbrellas in this plaza area of the courthouse to attract some downtown patrons for lunch and enliven it -- as it stands now the whole area is almost always empty every time i've gone past it, even during lunch hour.

I like the colored seating & funky planters that Frank has, little things like this can do a lot to liven up the sidewalk and create a better pedestrian experience

Colorado Tower started to show form the lake
