For example, it’s involved in a transit-oriented development at the Sandy TRAX station at about 100th South that will include office and retail space in addition to 270 apartment units for which Hamilton intends to break ground next month.

New blog covering development in Salt Lake City

I've been a longtime reader and sometimes commentator on this site. I am originally from SLC but spent the last 7 years in Philadelphia. I moved back to SLC this month and I am "soft launching" my new blog theslcblog.org. I will be posting regularly and the blog will focus on development, sustainability and smart growth. I was a regularly contributor to Nextcity.org and wrote for the two largest development blogs in Philly and I hope to provide a great product for urban and development minded folks. Once I get things officially running I will be looking for freelancers to contribute development related content. Cheers, Isaac

Looking through the SLC diagrams I found a building we have called "multi ethnic high rise".

The hell is a multi ethnic building?

From page 71 (about CCH):

"• Sky bridges are limited to 200 W between 200 S and South Temple"

I like some of the ideas in that plan... If anything becomes of them.. Who knows.

I say let's start doing the parkways along our streets now!!! Our streets are way to wide.

But they haven't even started the marmalade library yet.. Im not so confident that any of this will happen any time soon.

Tunnels aren't... Not only that.. Rules can be changed.

I would rather have a tunnel or a crosswalk where ever it is... It may not even have a direct connection to the salt palace period. I some how have a feeling it's going to end up on the block east of the salt palace.

City Assumptions, Page 7 no. 4 or 5 states that a convention center hotel is expected to be operational by 2018.
A few months ago we were all guessing when the CCH would open, and I claimed late 2018. Still do. Just sayin.

I think 2nd east should get a linear park and renamed to S Civc Parkway. That sounds nice.

The 5th west one should also get a name (union parkway) and I am not opposed to renaming 5th and 6th as well as 2nd west. Street names should reflect the area. I also think signage is important and I'm exited for the housing SW shift of downtown (LoDo has done this and I must admit gentrification is nice and I won't mind a couple more starbucks :/ )
