Excellent aerials of Calgary, the best I've seen of the city for sure.

It's not being built anywhere near quickly enough. On top of that, the only two expressways near downtown are 3 km east of the core (Deerfoot Trail) and 1.5 km west (Crowchild Trail). I like it like that, having virtually no highways through the inner city, but for drivers it is really 🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵🞵. Also, we're waiting on several new interchanges and grade separations for existing highways. However, the LRT has been built quickly enough for sure. It's just that having 3 car trains is wayy too short, but we will be bringing 4 car trains online next summer. All 4 LRT lines go out virtually to the edge of Calgary's urban area. On the other hand, we need two more LRT lines in order to meet demand, which we may not see for over a decade, unfortunately.

All of that said, improvements are happening on the highway network. The SW ring road has been fully approved and begins construction within the next couple years I believe, the expressway section of Glenmore Trail is being expanded another kilometer towards the ring road which will make it around 20 km long east - west, and a new interchange is being built over Crowchild this year

Well I can tell you that my commute downtown has gone from 40mins to over an hour in the last 7 years. Thats a combination of driving & LRT each day.

Toronto could learn so much off Calgary when it comes to modern buildings especially the office towers. Everything in Toronto seems to just another blue glass box while Calgary seems to be a higher standard on it's building designs, materials, colours, and forms.

Toronto's Southcore, despite the height and density, looks more like a glass wall as the blue glass just flows into the next one. From a distance the buildings are almost indisdiguishable from each other.

It's also great to city Calgary's downtown/inner city develop a lot of residential as well with varying designs/heights etc which is adding even more to an incredible skyline.

Agreed.

The photo is great but the ridiculously oversize watermark is terrible, it complete ruins that photo.

I love how futuristic EAP looks from this angle.

Calgary skyline puts so many cities much larger than it to shame. Denver, San Diego, Pheonix, Austin, Charlotte etc.

^ I agree..Fantastic pic...As far as skylines go, Calgary is Canada's little gem..It really does put cities twice and even three times it's size to shame.

I like the variety of building styles. It seems like a city that's had a large skyline for many years longer than it actually has had.
