I was impressed. It saved a few hours off almost any other route.

I have a look at the Air Canada website. Looks like they are doing things differently this year, The Ottawa flights looks to be a Ottawa-Regina-Saskatoon-Ottawa routing.

Given I am from Saskatoon, I based my post solely on its airport. Sorry if that offended you.

I did post this a few pages back. Obviously a reduction in service this summer.

The flights last year were only six days a week; I think these are seven. So it is both a reduction and an increase, depending on your perspective.

Canada JetLines

From a November 27, 2013 Financial Post article written by Scott Deveau:

"The plan calls for the airline to launch with two Airbus A319s in the fall of 2014, and expand to 16 aircraft by 2017 using a fleet of A319s and A320s. Jetlines has already hired about 25 people."

From what I read on another forum, they are planning on starting out this fall with flights from Vancouver and Edmonton to Mexico and Vegas I believe, but don't quote me on that. It will take them a while to get going, and it could be a couple of years before they expand to Sask.

YXE Flight Capacity

Does anyone know what YXE's hourly and daily flight capacity is (arrival/departures) and the remaining landing slots available?

I realize that YXE's runways are perpendicular and intersect one-another and thus wondering if this would effect it's max landing and take-off capacity vs. two parallel runways typically seen at much larger airports.

I heard that Saskatoon's new downtown highrise correctional facility will be opening in the near future... only one peculiar thing about it; it's signage says 'Holiday Inn and Suites'.

Yes, But the airport wouldn't be in that shape for another 20-30 years....

Perth International airport in Western Australia have a similar set up for it's two runways and only now are they reaching maximum capacity for landing/takeoff slots.

YXE's airport is approved for Simultaneous Runway Ops.

Not really there is a delay whenever one airplane takes off or lands before the cross runway is clear of turbulence. In parallel runways as long as they are far enough apart there is no restrictions.

As I stated above, YXE is approved for Simultaneous Runway Ops.

(Just take my word for it.)

Ok, so lets see two planes take off or land at the same time then......

Dalreg, . . . please stop it.

I hate to get into a shootout with you here; however, you seem to be neither a pilot; nor a lawyer; nor a logician; nor an English major; nor an analyst. If you were [at least] any one of these, you'd pick up on what I had stated [2X] above. YXE is approved for simultaneous runway ops. (That doesn't mean that they must exercise that 'privilege' at all times.)

It stands to chance that I know what-the-hell I am talking about here.

I'm not a pilot either. Does "simultaneous runway ops" just mean the safe operation of two or more runways (not necessarily simultaneously)?

Obviously planes cannot take off or land at the exact same moment where the runways intersect. They can have planes on them taxiing, etc. at the same time. Here are some procedures:

Yes: Simultaneous Ops basically means the utilization of two or more runways at the same time - whether they are parallel or not. In YXE's case, simultaneous ops is governed by LDAs (Landing Distance Available), which is based on a given distance between the runway threshold and the first would-be runway intersection encountered.

To my knowledge, YQR does not have that provision. (As-of-yet, although it ought to.

simultaneous runway ops are not the same as simultaneous take offs or landings. Parallel runways can handle a hell lot more traffic if they are far enough apart. Having one plane taxi on a runway isn't what I meant and you know it.

Almost every multiple runway airport in the world can be approved for multiple actions at the same time, but when you get done to it only one runway is actually being used at a time for what it is meant to be used for.
