Did you see the colour-coded prostitution density map?
Again, all I see is a map of where residents cared enough to call in and report suspected prostitution. Again, an advantage of high density living is more eyes on the community and more people being around to report suspicious activities. You would never know if your neighbour is dragging home prostitutes from the Beltline into your suburban neighbourhood.

Additionally, it's well known that street-based prostitution only accounts for about 11% of prostitution activity in Canada. With Beltline residents diligently reporting and cracking down on these activities, prostitution in the Beltline is likely area with the least amount of prostitution in the entire city.

That leaves 89% of prostitution activities out there, the majority of which, you guessed it, suburban base. Lock your doors suburbia, it's a scary world out there.

I should not get involved in this discussion...... but there is a noticeable presence of street prostitution on 15th avenue between 4th street and 1st street. Somebody needs to buy up some of those properties and build something there. Worked wonders for 1st street SW.

I'm confused. Are you referring to actual facial hair or their "girlfriends".

If it is facial hair, is it impolite to laugh out loud at handle bar mustaches, as I might have done so today in the +15. I couldn't help it, he kind of caught me by surprise.

Do you have a map that shows what part of the city their actual clients live in? The supply is central, but I'll bet you $100 the demand is coming from outside the Beltline.

Depends on the moustache. Some are awesome. Some are terrible. If they could also pull off shooting a musket or using an eyepiece to fix a watch, you cannot laugh at them, only give them high-fives.

This one fell slightly short of awesome. There seems to be a fine line between awesome and ridiculous.

Please provide a reference that a majority of prostitution is in the suburbs.

More important to the topic of this thread, however, is the proportion of prostitution related crimes in the inner city / beltline, versus elsewhere.

Again, you aren't even reading your own sources and are injecting a commentary invented by your paranoid brain which is disconnected from reality.

From your own article:

http://www.ctvnews.ca/sex-trade-workers-at-risk-in-suburbs-ex-prostitute-1.270888

Quote:
Released this week, it concludes that 70 to 90 per cent of prostitution in Calgary happens indoors and is likely arranged online.
Quote:
Reports of "outdoor prostitution" are concentrated in the Beltline and Forest Lawn.
Note, the only thing the map shows is concerned citizens calling in from the districts of Beltine and Forest Lawn to report suspicious activity. The lack of reports in suburban areas doesn't actually show a lack of prostitution, and the # of reports does not show an increase in the number of prostitution related crimes. You completely invented that in your sad little paranoid head.

I again refer you to the Calgary crime map, which reports actual incidents, which clearly shows the majority of crime happening in suburban areas:

That's a good point. Judging from the most recent example where a group of five men assaulted a woman in the Beltline during the day and no one intervened, it would suggest that the issue in the Beltline is way larger than the number of calls indicate. The apathy in that case was appalling!

The apathy in the suburbs is appalling, so much crime and a lack of concern to call in and report suspicious activity. Truly shocking.

Not sure what apathy you are referring to in the recent assault case, as it was so unusual it actually had a newspaper article written about it. Considering the number of sexual assaults happening in the suburbs with no newspaper articles, you have to wonder if people are just so used to it out there that it isn't even news. Shocking apathy indeed.

You might want to get your drinking water tested. I suspect you might have lead pipes in your house or maybe it's the lead based paint you use in your flophouses that you rent out.

From his perspective based on what you just wrote, you've basically just been gangraped in the beltline.

When we do it out here in the suburbs, we just call it "she had a few too many to drink", or "marital privilege". You're right though, those sorts of things rarely make the papers as they're far too common.

Ya know, sometimes I wish my dark sense of humour wasn't quite so.

I think geotag277 and suburbia should just put on the gloves and settle it that way. Just do it in a place that sells beer.
