Developers from are seeking to raze the shopping center at 836-50 N. 3rd St. and in its place build 26 homes with two ground-floor retail spaces.

^Future century 21 space. That whole area has been sectioned off for about a month now. They are trying their best to hide the action from view by painting over the windows but someone peeled the paint off one side. You can still enjoy the rest of the mall in it's 70's glory....

I just noticed this today. Naked Philly posted an article about the current demo going on at 15th and Walnut. The current proposal is a depressing waste of potential and fails to add any real density to an intersection that could hold a lot more. One of the comments by a poster going by thebrightguy mentions that the structure is designed with future vertical additions in mind. Does anyone know anything about this? I can't imagine that they wouldn't just build out as much as they can with the current apartment market so hot. I'm hoping someone with some inside info can chime in. Here's the link by the way:

Isn't Century 21 going into the old Strawbridge's building, and not The Gallery proper?

^Thought that was the case too, not exactly sure what's going on. All I know is that the vacant storefronts are being gutted *BUT* the Pearl Vision and dollar store that face the mallway on street level are still open with the former mall entries being re purposed to lead to those stores only. Maybe they are just rebuilding that courtyard to give a fresh new look, or maybe they are "decking" it over for more retail space. We shall see I guess....

Soil samples have been being taken since last week at Liberty Square... the new mixed use development coming to Old Kensington! Underground parking garage, huge, green, central, no-performance stage, park along with restaurants, offices, art studios, and a cafe. I know SOKO had more PR, but that development has all but died. This one should break ground this summer for demolition and excavation and then phase 1 which will include the germantown building and all the landscaping for the park will be finished by the end of Summer '15!!!

Good news from last night’s Washington Square West Civic Association meeting: work on reconstructing the severely damaged Lincoln Apartments on Locust Street at Camac is set to begin within the next few months.

Article from Curbed today shows a little bit of some of the construction of the Sugarhouse Expansion and whatever is going on at the Canal Street development site. It also talks about the construction about to begin on I-95.
