The Entertainment District is just crazy!! Block after block, crane after crane. In 5 years there is no way we will remember the old days of the Entertainment District so barren from the early 1990's, just everwhere seemed to be another parking lot.

Skyscraping suburbia. Killer shot of Burnaby and New West taken from Surrey.

And I remember griping at the price of parking back then too, when we used to make the trek from Hamilton. What a difference in perspective from today... we'd be loving the more urban vibe, but griping about the poor late-night regional transit service westward. (last train at 00:43, and I've taken that 01:30 GO bus and at times it wasn't pretty ... I see that GO has added buses at 02:30 now though so that's better)

One of my favourite Toronto shots of late. And there's a sight you don't see much of any more in this city: a high school football field.

St. Mike's is basically a football stadium + hockey arena with some class rooms tucked in over to the side.

How is this possible?

^^^ A hill at The Forks.

The grounds around the main stage at The Forks has hills made for winter sledding and seating (laying around) for summer events at the stage.

Sweet pic, just with the quality was a little higher. Makes me sad when I see so many well framed shots done with cell phones or other such low grade cameras.

Either way, this picture helps explain why I feel that despite only having 2.5 million people, Vancouver does have a metropolis feeling. Having so many tower clusters and mini downtowns this far away from the main downtown really does add to the urban feel of a city IMO. Not to mention skytrain (metro), all the ports, and the many bridges.
