Heights are her big issue now and has no time for anyone who thinks that there shouldn't be unlimited heights in the north end of the neighborhood. Before she was the one who insisted on the terrible couplet and scolded Safeway for standing in the way of its implementation. She definitely has made a lot of enemies in the way she conducts the neighborhood representation. I could go on.
Wow, if you're going to post ad hominem attacks, you might as well man up and post under your real name. Patty is very outspoken about her views, but she definitely doesn't speak for everyone in the neighborhood association. For example, myself and many others are less supportive of the West Burnside-Couch couplet than she is. But she is spot-on about the need for new development to achieve the heights and densities required to make a true, transit-supportive urban neighborhood, as a natural extension of downtown. It's advantageous to do that in an area that is very centrally located yet lacks a strong historic context like the North Pearl. Often during Central City 2035 stakeholder meetings, she literally was the only member that tried to push the City to embrace a bolder vision, which the West Quadrant plan sorely lacks.

Oh, and what's so "terrible" about the Lovejoy-Northrup couplet? Do you remember how bad traffic would get eastbound in the afternoons? Reducing congestion on Lovejoy has helped improve the streetcar's reliability considerably.

Reza, I agree pdxstreetcar in general (minus the couplet) and will gladly give you my real name. She routinely cuts people off and skips over details that folks may challenge. I built the PDNA website as a donation and attend the committee meetings occasionally.

Yeah, noticed they used the exterior again last episode quite a bit. The interior they usually don't use anymore. After they got started they constructed the police dept interior in their studio, which I hear is the in NW Industrial area.

Interesting, I actually thought they set up a police department set inside this building. Always funny how film and tv can fool someone like that.

I'm sorry, "man up"? Are we back in junior high school? Lots of chutzpah on display for your FIRST post to the forum. How about building some credibility in this community before launching into histrionics?

I was crossing Everett yesterday about 2pm and some dude was standing across the street taking pictures of the Janey II with a little point and shoot (or maybe mirrorless ICL camera) and I thought, I wonder if that's one of the guys from the forum...

I'm not sure how accurate this is, but an employee at the Vancouver Mall Cinetopia said that Cinetopia is looking into opening two locations in Portland, one of them being in the Pearl. Just throwing it out there.

RE: Cinetopia
Think they could ever build under 405? Can't go very tall but would be nice to activate that dead space. Not the Pearl but Lloyd Center will soon have a giant vacancy where Nordstrom currently is. Regal Theaters probably has a monopoly for that location though since there's one in the mall and across the street.

RE: Riverscape
LOOK at those terraces on both buildings! That's how you design waterfront property.

Piling On
Pearl District residents get some sympathy—but no action—about the pounding next door.

Full story here.

....

The pounding is nearly done at Block 17. Construction managers have told businesses in the area to expect more noise when work on a new, 28-story project one block from the Sitka begins in July.

Neighbors fear two more nearby projects will stretch out the pounding for months.

“I’m so unhappy with how my brain is functioning,” Jess says. “I try to be rational and polite, but I get so frustrated. I don’t remember what life was even like six weeks ago.”

What a bunch of clowns. These are the types of people that would move next door to an amusement park and picket every time they want to build a new ride...

Really? Well do you remember that you moved into a neighborhood that's gonna have construction going on for another decade? At the very least. No, I don't suppose your brain can function well enough to understand that either.

What a f*****g idiot. NO SYMPATHY for stupidity like that.

That is what we call, "first world problems" or "white people problems."
