It's too bad that the nimby community league is trying to have the city block off any and all access to that "end of the world" place, instead of making it safe, enhancing it... Making it something all can enjoy.
What ever measures they put up to block access will be pointless as a new route will be found.

^ Having been reading about the situation and talking to a few people, there are really only two viable options, since keeping people out and policing the site is basically impossible:

1. Demolish the structure; given the situation with those banks, though, that would not be an easy task, and thus probably quite expensive.

2. Put up safety railings and open it up as a public viewpoint with safe and proper access.

As neat as it is the way it is now, it is actually a pretty dangerous place, and there's a ton of litter and garbage all over the place. If the people using the area won't look after it, then they leave the city little choice but to act one way or another.

I agree - and I think option 2 is the way to go. Enhance/protect/open it up to all, instead of just a place where people who dare go beyond the fence go

As for End of the World ever since they tried to stabilize Keeler road and put those pilings in, the whole bank became more destabilize and is sliding faster into the river.

Apparently police presence is very rare, and even then they can only apparently fine people for open liquor, not tresspassing as others are claiming they can do (yay scare tactics, those always work).

Amongst the activities are a giant chess game, a couple of ping pong games, a massive lineup for Fat Franks, a well-attended zumba class, and the old blues guitarist with the silver jacket.

I loved the original EC. There was a cohesiveness of design and finish that disappeared once it got Franken-renovated.

I remember when just phase 1 was open (Woodwards, north and east portions of the retail podium and what I think was the Royal Trust Tower {the first of the two office towers, TD came second]), and before the atrium area was completed, peering through the plastic barrier to see the atrium under construction.

That and the cafe that used to be located where the food court is now located. I think I was introduced with gravy on fries there. As a young kid, it was like discovering meth, in liquid form.
