More sprawl? Terrible....

Not thrilled with commercial developments not easily accessible by transit.

From what I've heard, Blenz will be replaced with another coffee shop. JJ Bean perhaps?

So Garden City gets a block long, two-storey tall blank wall. Thanks Smart Centres.

Not a completely blank wall - but "jazzed" up as much as other large format retailers - incl. Nordstrom.
Hopefully this isn't the final colour palette.

David's Tea opened an entrance from Dunsmuir. Slight elevation change required a step inside the entrance. But it looks good. The sign provides a punch of colour, too.

With the efforts to open up the base of 701 West Gorgia for retail, maybe they'll do the same for the Canaccord Tower?

Yeah, the wall on the left is the Garden City side. Big wall with some windows (or spandrel?) and colour blocking (and probably landscaping at grade). But Garden City wouldn't ever be a walkable shopping street anyways.

I am surprised by the closing of Blendz at that Pacific Centre location. It was always busy whenever I went there. I first noticed it was closed last weekend but just assumed they were doing renovations, making the store look like their newer branches.

There have been so many new coffeeshops and cafes opening in the Downtown core--Nosherie, Croissanterie, the new West End JJ Bean, the new Davie Breka, PappaRoti, Shambhala Coffee, Baguette & Co., Perks, the new Chinatown Musette, the new Chinatown Matchstick.

Canaccord (609 Granville) is getting a lobby reno in the same vein as 200 Granville. Expect to see some announcements for the corner retail unit as well as a new user for the Blenz space. Should look good once complete.

Good news about Canaccord. There are some elements of the awning that look especially dated with regard to PC next door. Hopefully, that will be addressed.

609 will always retain its own identity as a separate office tower, but there should be greater integration and less of a contrast of dated styles.

Excellent news. Does this mean no more blank wall at the corner of Granville and Dunsmuir?

Big plans for the flagship Roots location at Burrard and Robson according to Retail-Insider. I guess the pressure to up their game is coming from the flagship Lululemon and Victoria's Secret on the other corners. Looks good and much needed IMO.

I realize that they are not re-building the site, but an one storey building here is just waste of space at this location. Four to eight storey mid-rise would look good in here.

They likely don't have any 'air rights' with the heritage building immediately north. Agreed, a slightly taller building would have more impact but I wouldn't want anything more that a couple of storeys on Robson.

Something still needs to be done about the building and tenants West/North of L'Occitane's new space along with a few other parcels on that block.
