I don't dislike orange, its just that every building in orange doesn't need to be there now that the race track is gone. But still, it is such a mess of a buildings. What is the car ramp for, I have never been up there or any of those buildings to the right and north of the brandt.

Well, considering that I'm actually a good deal past my mid-20s...

I think housing prices in Regina will probably stall for a while. Prices are traditionally pretty well correlated with wages; if prices rise faster than wages over a period of time, then eventually fewer people can afford to buy, and then prices will stall until wages catch up. (Heaven help us if people start buying beyond their means in large numbers...)

I do hope the investment in new apartments will help improve vacancy rates and affordability in Regina though. Maybe more modular apartments like those near the northwest Co-op?

Would be interesting to see what the national average housing price is when Vancouver and Toronto are subtracted, and how Regina compares to that.

I am generally pessimistic about these things...and while I think the stadium itself is a bad idea for public funding, I also think the design looks nice. I don't think anyone would find it ugly, even if they didn't love it. As well, the wind comes from the north-west during the football season, which is why the entrance is in the north-east.

A lot of tradeshows use that ramp. (A friend of mine doesn't like having to back her van up that ramp to unload her stuff. That's how I know that.)

Before the Agridome, money needs to be spend on the barns before we lose Agribition the way we lost Royal Red. The barns are in terrible shape. Agribition is a huge $$$ to this city.

The city also need to put replacing the Lawson or even building a second facility in the city of the same scale for both competitive swimmers and recreational use.

I am correct about the fact that the Brandt Centre is expandable. That said, an expansion though would be a difficult task to undertake nowadays, due-to-the-fact that there is now the Queensbury Centre - which is attached on the north side of Brandt. (Part of which would need to be demolished in order to accommodate an expansion.) Otherwise, popping the roof/walls would be a no-brainer. The initial foundation is already in place.

The Agridome opened during the winter of '76-77 with an initial seating capacity of 4666 seats; and the [afterthought] Queensbury Centre opened in "about" 1986.

In the interview with Mark Williams from HKS, he made it clear that they consulted with environmental experts and tweaked the building design to provide the maximum amount of wind protection based on Saskatchewan's prevailing winds.

Seriously, what part of "100 years of [weather] study" don't you understand?

Frankly, I was never a huge fan of building a new stadium, and certainly not a fan of the location, but I fail to see how anyone can argue that the design isn't STUNNING and will be a symbol of civic pride for decades to come.

Congratulations to the design team. I really hope they actually come through with a final product that is substantially similar to the initial concept.

Unless you build a complete dome then there will always be wind coming inside, I think that's obvious. They at least built it to minimize that as much as possible with the current budget.

Mark Williams (HKS) was interviewed by cbc radio last night. He said the winds were one of the biggest considerations and not to just simply keep it out. Sometimes you want wind coming into the stadium to cool it off and sometimes you want to block it. He seemed to be making a distinction between warming winds from a predominant direction and nasty cool winds from other directions at differing times of the year. He said wind speed should be cut in half on the field. My take-away from the interview was that they (HKS) had access to a helluva lot of weather data and they knew what to do with that data.

I have friends that currently sit on the East side and they maintain the heat and baking in the sun during the summer games is a far bigger deal than cold weather for one or two games in the fall.

I've been sitting on the East side for 20 years and the cold is a much bigger deal. But I love being outside under the hot sun, so...

That's why in looking at the renders, I'm somewhat hopeful that the lower east side won't be too, too shaded. Downside is that there wouldn't be much rain protection though...
