Thank you! That fixed the problem.

Edit: Web pages on every single site I visit now are loading extremely fast. I didn't realize how much of a drag some ads are to page load times.

A permit request was filed today to demo the Hickory Street Grill at 800 Congress. Does anybody know what project this may be for?

I remember being so disappointed going there. Wife and I received the worst service in our life and had to just walk out.

I agree the service model was a little odd, but we had some awesome fresh/local/farm-style food there with kids. Talking to others, it seems to elicit strong opinions one way or the other.

There was a building that was proposed awhile back and they closed down only to reopen a few months later. Maybe its the same project.

^^Yeah, that was the proposed Austin Hotel at 804 Congress.

Here's a link to the thread:

These were the renderings:

I wonder if they redesigned it to comply with the stepback requirements for Congress Avenue.

According to a couple of online review sites, Hickory Street Grill recently closed. So something - something very narrow - is in the works for this site.

Just for you, it'll be a 37-story parking garage.

I was walking on Riverside and Burton about 11:45pm on Wednesday and the cops stopped traffic to let some trucks through. They were shipping Lustre Pearl to I dunno where (they turned on Burton towards the river). But it was crazy seeing them move the place.

Man, with the narrow width of that lot you might get 20 spaces per floor, and you'd need a car elevator on the sidewalk to take them up.

I can't imagine anything tall going there. That lot is so narrow there's just no way. That would be Hong Kong and Tokyo skinny.

You got that right. A one story building on Congress? This isn't 1971.

Is building a 1 story structure in the CBD even allowed?

Buildings are torn down and become parking lots so I would think yes.

It seems to backwards to me that there are increased costs to build larger, but not the opposite. In the CBD, there should be minimum requirements for new buildings and increased taxes for undeveloped land (parking lots).

Its ridiculous to build a one story building in the heart of Downtown. The only way something like that would even make any sense is if the building is designed to have more floors added as the need arises and even then, it wouldn't make a whole lot of sense.

Thanks for the update. Do you have any idea where the other homes being moved for the Millennium are being trucked off to?
