Great shot.

Will be absolutely amazing to see in 2-3 years time when the Brentwood mall tower is going up to literally twice the height of anything in that shot.

Interesting picture. It took me a while to figure out what I was looking at (the highest located one in the back confused me).
Looks like the buildings in the back are Lougheed mall, with the 3 rightmost towers being the Best Western and the two towers next to the highway. In Front of the Lougheed towers is a squashed Burnaby lake. The two tall light coloured towers on the left side are at Cameron and North Road. The dark highest one must be the tower at Austin and Bluemountain road in Coquitlam. Oh and in the distance that hill in the center must be Sumas mountain in Abbotsford, can't really be anything else at that angle, can it?. :-)

Yeah, I think that's The Austin up on the hill in the background.

This tower is turning out really nice.

So refreshing to see a tower with a different floor plate. Everything in Brentwood is square.

This building is standing out now. It can be seen easily from Rupert street and first avenue. When parked beside it yesterday I noticed that there is rebar positioned for at least another two stories. Not sure if that is the top off point or not.

They are working on the 30th floor now, so 2 more after this. They will have to change the forms for the balconies for the next 2 floors as the top 2 floors have larger 'terraces'.

You are right, it really is standing out now. The windows are really showing a distinct blue colour, not sure how much of that is the protective plastic though.

The glass is looking real nice, a darker blue tint to it. When the eastern side is painted white this tower will be very, very impressive.

Something out of Miami, or Puerto Vallarta.

Yeah. And I love the elegantly curved aspect. Hopefully, this will set a style benchmark for other buildings.

Fitting some good superstitious stereotypes...

Look on the upside, nobody can block your view to the North. Even a 4th, 13th, or 14th floor unit could have a great view.

Whether you are superstitious or not, you have to think about re-sale value. I personally am not superstitious but I would never buy here because a) What is there to like about waking up to a view of a cemetery or living next to a cemetery.. bad vibes whatever you want to call it... b) 50/50 chance you will re-sell to an Asian buyer. 50/50 Chance the buyer doesn't like the cemetery - Asian or not. Comparing a tower next to the cemetery vs one that is not & given all other things equal, I am buying the one away from the cemetery. Given the amount of product choice in the area, I don't see the appeal of buying here unless the price is way under the competition - which I am told is not that much cheaper.

First of all it is across the street. So you are hardly having them as next door neighbors. Even if it is filled with the deceased, it is hardly a party zone. Or would you rather live next door too a strip mall with a 7 11 and people yelling outside in the middle of the night. Totally stupid superstition.

No doubt. Why wouldn't you want to live next to a cemetery? It's basically a park without the noise of screaming kids running around. Only downside is you might catch a glimpse of the odd casket being put in the ground. Either way I think most mature adults would not have a problem with it.

To answer that, yes I would much rather live next door to a strip mall with 7-11 and people yelling outside in the middle of the night vs a cemetery directly across the street.

Even if this is stupid superstition and 100% ridiculous to YOU, this is Vancouver & half the buyers are Asian and a large % of Asians will have a negative sentiment to living next to a cemetery. I would think twice about buying here because you are effectively reducing your future resale buyer pool by a 1/3 or 1/2, thus potentially reducing your resell value.

On the flip side, you'll have a lot of people that don't believe in silly superstitions, and see living close to a cemetery as a huge plus; little to no noise, slim chance of redevelopment etc.

You may lose potential buyers, but you'll gain a lot too.
