Calgary's job just got harder... you know a city like that won't settle for anything but the best and flashiest sports facilities, but with Rogers Place to the north and Mosaic Stadium to the east, they've got their work cut out for them

As far as I'm concerned, Regina knocked it out of the park.

I wasn't saying they should have a roof, just thought they said it was going to be roof ready (seems a shame that it has to sit under snow for 5 months of the year). Not sure how you'd put a roof on that but I agree with you 100%, they killed it.

As a huge CFL fan, I love seeing this. Good on the Riders for getting a world class stadium like this. Great to the CFL moving forward with new stadiums as well. Awesome!

Calgary is now officially the third world for pro sports facilities, lol. Don't hold your breath on a new stadium as the province and city have said numerous times that they won't give a dime towards it. Not sure anyone in Calgary really cares anyway as CFL are second class citizens here and really in any Canadian city that has an NHL team (sad but true).

And as far as the arena goes, Flames will have to build that all by themselves so I doubt it will be as slick as Edmonton's (at least on the outside).

Oh oh, here come the excuses!

Funny how things change... in the mid/late 80s, Calgary arguably had the best arena in Canada, and one of the better stadiums (after the 1988 Olympics renovation).

Now, once the new Mosaic is built, it will rank at pretty much the bottom in both categories!

33K, expandable to 40K for larger events.
It appears like a nice and adequate facility for Regina.

OUTSTANDING job! By the way, is it just me, or does it look like this stadium can hold a LOT more than the 33,000 - 40,000 advertised? I would almost guess a grey cup configuration could seat 50k

33,000 normally, with expansion to 40,000. It's a little on the low side, it would be nice if it were a few thousand higher on both counts.

However, the rendering looks to be for the 40,000.

Didn't the government fund a bit of Edmonton's new one... or was it all city and Katz?

Wow! goes out to Regina... that thing is nice! I agree it looks larger that 30 or even 40 thousand in those renders though.
