Of interest - from the Spaxman Consulting website.
I guess this was when a station was proposed for west Coquitlam (Maillardville).
(It was deleted after residents complained they didn't want a station).
This is the Crane Canada site where the pocket track is along TCH.

So is the provision of a future station still built in then?

No, I don't think so.
There was once a proposal for a "finger" over to Maillardville - which was cut off.
This is the first time I've seen this proposal - but there's a pocket track there now.
(although the area seems to be level track, since they store trains there)

Braid station is maybe 150m or 200m away, so I doubt they would put a future station there. I'd guess the track is flat enough, but a station is impossible because of the TCP pocket track.

It doesn't strike me as a great location for a station either, seeing as it's right beside a busy 8 lane highway that would prevent access to the Coquitlam side. (Not that Braid is much better in terms of ease of accessibility and proximity to stuff)

I can't imagine why they'd put a station there, but I don't see any reason why it would be impossible to build one with platforms on the outboard sides of the guideway.

Here is what the mayors transit plan for the referendum could look like.

That's re-hashing of the same old vague plan that they have been talking about for the last 10 years. If they truly want to win the referendum how about:

1) Attaching direct cost of servicing to each individual expansion. For example, UBC extension adds $X million to yearly cost.

2) Some new ideas how to throw everybody paying for this a bone. For example, if I am paying for transit through vehicle license fee I get X number of Transit passes for year free.

3) Explaining how come Translink whines about being out of money every single year and then every single year runs a surplus (latest being +$50mil)

Am I understanding the chart at the second to last page right?

To raise the $600 million, you will need to pay 1.23% sales tax for things within the region, $425 per years for the vehicle levy, and $0.05 per km that you drive????

Or are those figures if you choose one of the funding sources, say $425 on the vehicle levy per year, you will raise the $600 million???

Regardless of the answer....GOODNESS GRACIOUS!!! And this coming from someone that actually supports transit expansion!

It's if you chose one funding source (not combined). There is about ~1.5 mil cars in the region. At $425 a pop that gives you ~600 mil a year....

Same sentiment here...This would at the top end increase Translink's budget by 40%...There is no way that this will succeed if they go for 600 mil increase...

But if they put number like that in the referendum there will be people with torches and pitchforks on the streets before any referendum takes place...

Cool look into how the Main Street station Skytrain site was selected:

MKI on flatbed truck

Hey guys. I didn't get a chance to grab a photo (and kicking may 🞵🞵🞵 for that), but this afternoon I was by the Edmonds OMC and there was a crew on the side of the road with a MKI on a flatbed. Doors off, just on the street outside the OMC.

Anyone have any idea what they are up to?

Gee, is it any wonder some people will never take Translink, when there is a chance you'll be sharing it with trash like this:

This just enforces the Surrey stereotype (deserved or not) for anybody reading the story.

I do however side with TransLink over Global News and the mother on the Transit Security argument. It's unrealistic to have a transit security officer on every bus south of Fraser. You can cry 'Where was transit security!?' but short of a Transit Security personnel on every bus you aren't going to stop these random events of people causing problems.

It's not the transit authority's mandate to solve crime and social problems in a city, they just have to deal with it. It's the municipal and provincial governments who need to respond.

Aren't they renovating the building across the street from the OMC to do it there? They just rebuilt the track to the building.

I just want to make sure everyone that watched that video actually understands what they are seeing. The lady on the seat being "beaten up" is the one that actually caused all the problems; searing at the transit driver, attacking the mother's children, ultimately pulling a knife, etc..

The video shows that mother defending her children who were attacked by beating the living 🞵🞵🞵🞵 out of that woman. So the "trash" isn't the lady screaming and beating the woman up if some of you thought so. The woman doing the beating is the mom defending her children and I applaud her 100%.

If more people defended not only children but bus drives that get assaulted the same way or any other transit user, we'd have less jerks on transit causing problems imo.

Oh and the original lady was "well known to Police" btw which again shows the results of our revolving court system. You could add 10000 more cops, if the courts just release everyone it won't make a difference ever.

But off site? Thought this was being done in the new facility across the street? (using the rail access)
