I got it from my plane when we were circling the city on approach. I also managed to get one of downtown Coquitlam, though it isn't very good.
All of the images in that post except for "Centuries" and "Kitsilano" were taken from some form of transportation vehicle (plane, seabus, Skytrain, aquabus).

Very cool, looks like you got a great day to circle the city on approach. Given the hundreds/thousands of times I've flown into YVR I've never flown over downtown like that, we always circle over the Georgia Straight.
Yeah, we flew directly over the metropolitan area. Basically entering the area over Maple Ridge, following the Burrard Inlet all the way to Stanley Park, and then over the Salish Sea, and landed heading east on the lateral runway at YVR.

I was looking back over this thread, and this picture still mesmerizes me.
Seeing Vancouver during a storm is a rare thing, but it's also different to see the skyline without the mountains visible in the background (though it looks like a mountain ridge is vaguely apparent to left of the bolt)
