They set a season's tickets record too so I'd be surprised if we saw any empty seats in 2014. Honestly, at that size I don't ever want to see empty seats at this stadium. 22,500 and a brand new facility? This should be sold out for the next 40 years. Hopefully they'll need to add another 10,000 seats in the not too distant future.

It was around as early as the 1980s. I started going to games regularly in the early to mid 80s.

There was always the perception that the north side was the posh, placid side. That they'd sit on their hands. Everything from the national anthem to halftime shows was always turned towards the north side. Plus the north side had the huge overhang that protected basically all of its seating from the elements.

Except for a small overhang that covered the last few rows of the upper deck, the south side was completely exposed to the elements. It was where the rowdiest fans generally sat and the home team bench was also on the south side. The south side fans even had their own t-shirts and caps with Southsiders on them.

And to prove the Southsiders right about how placid the north side fans were, the north side almost never responded to the chants with their own "south side sucks" chants. I only recall it happening once in scores of games I went to, and everyone on the south side was shocked: "OMG! They're reacting! They're alive over there!"

I'm not sure where you're getting your information from, but the north side looks pretty nice to my eyes... new seats, new premium seating, renovated concourses... if the worst thing you can say is that the structure itself is original then that isn't much of a criticism.

This exact same dynamic existed at CanadInns Stadium, except it was the east side that held the rowdies. The demographic divide was pretty stark... the west side held the older, gray-haired, season-ticket-holder-since-Osborne-Stadium types, while the east side held the beer snake-making, foul insult-yelling crowd.

The divide is not nearly as pronounced anymore at Investors Group Field.

i think he was being sarcastic and it was more a reference to the old north vs south side chants

I believe it was left unfinished to provide access under that grandstand. The same thing was done on the west side, though its northern section was constructed a while ago.

It looks like the majority of staircases have been built on both grandstands now.

Interesting. I think a similar dynamic exists at Jays games. The upper bowl is where the regular folks sit while the lower bowl is where the suits sit. The upper bowl is far rowdier, noisier, and is actually watching the game. Lower bowl folks are on their cell phone or chatting up someone they're trying to impress. There are some die hard fans down there, but they're heavily outnumbered.

No, just the license plate. It's was a gift from a French friend of the Gard Departement. He knew that I was about to buy a new car.

What is the square footage of the Quebec Arena? It looks massive and bigger then anything arena wise just from a eye standpoint in Canada. Maybe Canada Tire Centre in Ottawa might be larger?

I don't see seats yet - you may have been seeing the wooden forms for the stairs (which look bright and fairly big on the low-res camera shots taken from the south end) or a support for something else that was being put up.

It looks like they've built a short wall behind the last row of seats on that level, dividing it from the wheelchair seating and concourse.

Haven't noticed that at all any the Jays games I've attended while in Toronto the last couple seasons. Seemed like a pretty suit free crowd in the stands, only saw some guys who seemed like they were there on business behind home plate.

The lower bowl is sleepy compared to the upper bowl. The only time they seem to come to life is when free swag gets thrown towards them.
