I have personally walked to both Lure and Two Urban Licks. But you're right that most people drive to those restaurants. Just be careful about using words like "no one." Especially with Two Urban Licks being right on the Beltline. Maybe you don't see the bikers/walkers because you're in the parking lot on the other side of the building.

I hear you…though I've never seen anyone ride their bikes to these type of restaurants. Now if people live near and decide to walk thats another topic. My statement was no one rides their bikes to these places.

You really could not be more wrong about Two Urban Licks. Most of the places on or near the BeltLine have significant bike traffic. And the same is true for bars all over the city, especially Edgewood and East Atlanta.

Preleasing on The Residences at Buckhead has started. Studio apartments start at $1500, while 2BR units command around $3150 depending on the size of the dwelling.

The point I was trying to make is there are other methods of travel. The original post talked about taking 20 minutes to get down 14th Street. At some point, it makes more sense to ditch the car and find another way of getting from point A to point B. The mindset that everybody has to have a car at all times has led to hours of gridlock and a transit network that hasn't expanded since the 90s. If so many people are going to happy hour and contributing to local businesses, then why are the streets clogged and not the sidewalks? I don't have the data, but it seems like most people get off work, hit the parking garage and clog the streets on their way out of midtown.

Waiting for the public backlash against how high-rent these are and how its not "affordable" for everyone.

Oh wait that wont happen because it isn't ponce city market.

I'd thought the same thing, what was he/she comparing to about being the cheapest design…Also, where is The Residences at Buckhead?

Speaking of Skyhouse - it looks like they are doing a floor about every 2-3 days now. At this rate we should see completion by About mid of end of July. Remarkable how practice makes perfect.

HAHAHAHAHA…with everyone generally complaining about how some of these towers have so much above ground parking, I don't understand why they don't use the formula The Paramount at Buckhead used. I remember them blasting and digging into the ground. If I'm correct, it's about 6 levels underground of parking.

I'm curious if you (and others) are actually reacting to the actual design or just the quality of the rendering? There's a big difference, you know?

I don't see this any any more offensive than a half dozen other projects built in Midtown in the last decade.

Agreed. While the building itself doesn't appear to be anything special, it's important to know that a great rendering can make even a terrible building look great, and a terrible rendering can make a great building look awful. I'm not in love with the design, it's ok, but I'm very happy with the setup on the lot, considering the parameters. This will be great in that location.

State Farm campus to break ground May 15

The project’s first phase is expected to be a 19-story tower. The full project, to be developed over several years, would rank among the largest real estate projects announced in metro Atlanta since the Great Recession.

I agree. Take Elan Westside as an example. Great rendering, but now that it is built, I think several elements look cheap, particularly the thin metal they used and the unclean seams.

Move to New York for a few years. These rents look like an absolute steal to me!

the fact this has underground parking is quite surprising, and i never would've guessed of all the buildings in buckhead that this would be one of the few. i remember this going up not long after i joined the forum.

I have my eyes glued to the web cam...it's about a floor and a half per week.

City greelights $ 650 million Midtown project

The largest high-rise residential project planned in Atlanta has the green light to go forward.

City planners on April 29 approved a proposal for a $650 million trio of twisting towers at 98 14th St., the former “symphony center” site.

The approval paves the way for OHM Atlanta LLC, a New York-based development group that includes Olympia Heights Management LLC and Ashkenazy Acquisition Corp., to acquire the roughly 4-acre site.

In an April 30 email, project attorney Kathryn Zickert of Smith, Gambrell & Russell LLP said the deal on the land would close on May 1.http://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/print...greenlights-650m-98-14th-st-project.html

I think there will be some people biking to this one - this feels like the first bar designed with the beltline in mind....I think people will be biking to this one! (or walking, or skateboarding, or jogging....)
