I hope we see at least some additional signage and or lights/TV screens once its all finished. As much of an improvement it is over the old building, it might look a little bland without them.

Given the location it sure should, especially at the Robson / Granville intersection. At least a ticker or something, even a simple LED strip down the Robson / Granville corner would be nice...

Re-creating a mini-shinjuku is somehow too ambitious and needs a bigger scale than can be found in Vancouver, notably the Granville Mall.

However, this picture from Berlin (with some obvious variations in street use) might nevertheless give an idea of the brightness that many are calling for, using, to a degree,
725 Granville as a vehicle for such.

I'm not saying "this is our role model," I'm just using it as an example of how buildings themselves can light up a street and hoping the Nordstroms building could similarly be adapted.

You perhaps mean Shibuya, not Shinjuku? That photo of Friedrichstraße has so much enhanced lights and colors. I never found that street flashy or even very interesting part of Berlin-Mitte. The only interesting thing is Bugatti Veyron on display at the intersection with Unter den Linden.

I agree. Friedrichstraße honestly is quite boring, the street is so much more interesting north of Friedrichstraße station.

No one is asking for Shibuya, but a little more light and animation on this building would be very welcomed...given its location, again especially on the Robson / Granville corner. Essentially the video screens being placed on the Telus building would be far more appropriate on this building location wise.

Pics by me today - second skin being installed at Robson & Granville
(and still 3 levels of framing to be installed above - that'll be a while):

Steel columns being installed at the main entrance facing Georgia St.:

Additional level of curtain wall (and solid wall) being installed on the Georgia St. side
(and some odd steel framing on the level below - probably for marble cladding):

Why will it be a while for the rest of the framing?

Imageshack has messed up the pic size, but here's my post from October 28, 2013:

It's taken them that long to not do much...

Nah, no inside info.

Pics by me today:

They are cutting back the steel ledge installed above the Granville streetfront windows
- guess someone screwed up.

DATE: April 30, 2014

ATTENTION: All Office Tenants – 700 West Georgia

WHAT: 725 Granville Redevelopment Project – Heavy Demolition Work

WHEN: Monday, May 5 to Friday, May 16, 2014

WHY: To conduct essential demolition work for the new lobby and plaza of the office portion of the building

IMPACT: In addition to the normal construction activities that take place from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday to Saturday, there will be loud heavy demolition work scheduled for these times:

May 5 to May 16, 2014
• Monday – Friday: 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
• Monday – Tuesday: 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
I guess that'll involve the removal of the heavy concrete wall at the bottom of this pic:

Looks like the bigger half of your news is now public.

Expect some snazzy Microsoft signage atop the building.

Right above the future entrance in that last pic, maybe?
Hmm - The renders didn't have office tenant signage indicated.

I guess they'd be moving from the former Pivotal Building and the floorplate is consistent with the needs of software companies.
-Edit - reading the article - it sounds like this will be in addition to the existing facility.

Most likely. i'd definitely expect some here too...

This is a huge deal, Microsoft is now one of the largest office spaces in downtown Vancouver, and is in the beginning of what looks to be a large growth mode.

Another source about Microsoft occupying top 2 floors:

http://www.vancitybuzz.com/2014/05/micro...n-expansion-pacific-centre-office-space/

That also means there is still room for other companies occupying remaining spaces.
