completely agree with the press box. i mentioned it a few pages earlier. why didn't they go with the all glass press box as shown in the renders

It isn't the worst press box I've ever seen (at least it's enclosed - heh), but it does seem to really clash with the flowing lines of the southside stands. Even a small token effort to integrate the design of the press box with its surroundings would have improved its appearance dramatically... it looks like they didn't even try, though.

Yea, it's ain't pretty and it contrasts from the fresh/modern look of that side. The good thing is it won't take much effort or cost to upgrade it down the road - although why not do it right the first time?

I was surprised as well when I see the pix of the press box yesterday on here.

Looks like a community centre that was quickly put together in a northern mining community or something...

BTW I don't think the north side will look as bad as people think (judging from the pix it will look OK), but it will stick suck compared to the south side which is as usual the best!

I'll wait until it's completed (to get the full picture) but in my mind the seat colour and motif fit and look better on the north side than they do the south. The red and black seats (look more like rose and gray) just don't seem to jive with the veil on the south side and the siding? of the press box takes away from the coherence of the whole. Just my uneducated opinion. But again, I'll reserve judgement until it's completed.

I like the look of the yellow but boy when they're empty it doesn't look too good on TV, (reference Olympic Stadium Montreal).

I wonder if the random seat pattern, besides looking cool, might also help reduce the visibility of empty seats.

That's one of the main reasons for choosing that kind of a pattern... it really does a lot to hide or downplay empty seats.



Solid colours tend to make empty seats more obvious, and the Ticats' bright yellow scheme will make empty seats stand out a lot - although as GlassCity pointed out, with only 24,000 it likely won't be a huge problem.

I don't mind the all-yellow seating, but it will be very obvious when seats are vacant (even if it's just at the beginning of a game before everyone is seated, end of half, end of lopsided games, etc.)

I'd be surprised if they install a scheme like Ottawa's. But I'd be less surprised if they opted for something like Edmonton's, with strips of black seating blended in (perhaps even grey too... not a team colour but it might look nice, and it's to be a city-owned facility anyway)

22.5K to be more precise and yes, the way tickets are selling, hopefully shouldn't be a problem.

It's supposed to, kind of the idea behind BC Place and also the gray seats.

When did that tradition start? North stands vs south stands? I'd also like to know if the Panda Game is back as a fixture on the Ottawa sports calendar.
