Nice. What's with the trio on unicycles in the rendering though? It's like whoever put the rendering together thought "San Francisco has wacky residents right? I'll throw some unicycles in there!"

Yeah, let's try to keep it realistic. This location is too boring for SF unicyclists...they're more often spotted heading up Twin Peaks.

Haha, unicyclists!

That's one sexy rendering...

Long-Delayed 69-Unit Condo Building Now Rising on Franklin

Quote:
The original building on the site, most recently home to luxury car dealership Cars Dawydiak, was designed by architect Frederick Meyer in the early 20th century. After winning approval, however, the building was put on hold as the economy tanked. It was revived last year with demolition of the old building, and construction is now moving right along with an expected completion date of Summer 2015. A rendering of the building's exterior shows that homage has been paid to Meyer's original building in the first few floors of the new structure's facade. It is set to hit 13 stories with parking and retail at the bottom.

A 64-unit apartment building at 2100 Market Street, directly next to the Church Street Muni stop. The site of the former Home restaurant and where Chipotle attempted to move in last year.

I drove by yesterday and that older warehouse building was definitely gone.. They didn't preserve it as seen in the render.

wakamesalad- I believe warehouse was torn down some time ago. What you see in the rendering is part of the new construction intended to be something of a homage to the former warehouse.

Awesome! My neighborhood just keeps transforming--this would be the seventh proposal (five have been/are being built) within two blocks of my apartment!

For fflint:

Heller Manus has designed a 87-unit rental building to rise at 2198 Market Street (the triangular shaped lot on the northeast corner of Market and Sanchez).

Alright 2198 Market! I knew there was a proposal for that one, but these are new renderings.

This project is the latest of about ten new flatirons on Market Street!

2198 Market Street - I happened to walk by 2198 Market yesterday (on the way to Canela to have rabbit paella, the best I have every had) and wondered what would become of the triangular lot - now I know! I like the Heller Manus design. If it is not changed radically in design and color I think it will be a very good neighbor to the Swedish Hall with it's double peaked roof. I particularly like the set back next to it's neighbor a nice touch. Not great architecture but it will blend in with the other corner buildings in the neighborhood.

I was thinking about how much San Francisco has changed since I first moved here in 1992, and decided to look at the numbers. San Francisco's population--and population density--has grown 15.6% since 1990. The population grew by 114,000, which is not inconsequential. More interestingly, we also roughly added an additional 2,500 persons per square mile within an already dense footprint!

Year - Population - Persons per square mile
1990 - 723,959 - 15,446
2013 - 837,442 - 17,867
