The steel box on Richards is being painted a dark grey - not sure if this will be the final colour or not.

My (blurry) photo from yesterday:

Nice tie-in between the aluminum mullion fins on the old building and the glass fins on the new building in that last shot.

Some assignments have started popping up for sale...asking ~$1,000 per SF

http://www.rew.ca/properties/V105759...reet-vancouver

http://www.sutton.com/listing/2602-7...c1c7-v1049207/

Those are just asking prices mind you, but you can buy in the Private Residences at Hotel Georgia for about the same price per SF.

I haven't managed to get a good picture looking up Seymour of the overhanging box, but it's noticeable and you can imagine the finished product.

Currently in the rain, the steel frame is collecting water into walls of water. It's not an issue because the scaffolding is still blocking the lane below. I wonder if they planned for drainage with rain and heating to melt snow or ice.

Presumably the office temperatures would melt snow and ice (hopefully no icicles, though).

Just thought of this -

Imagine how cool it would have been if that podium was a retail store? i.e. Saks

That would be sooo right-on (for whatever high-end retailer was chosen). Is this retail concept at all a possibility??

No, it's just office space.

My photo from yesterday i.e. 5 days after my photos above - looks like a number of the steel beams at the east end of the box have been removed (?):

Pics by me today - check out the sawtooth edge on the podium floorslab.
Columns seem to have deeper recesses than on the office tower coilumns.

Not sure how the sawtooth jives with the design - uless they changed the facade:

Are those shades of brown real? Looks like modern meets 70s.

^ That is a substantial change for the podium's architecture.

Oh, wow - never seen that rendering before.

The translucent onyx stone was a key feature of the podium cladding.
So that's gone now? (Even this rendering doesn't have the sawtooth edge)

If so, that would also mean the facade on the podium under the West Georgia steel structure would have changed too.

Although, more typical, I like this render better, because for retail - it's more "accessible".
Customers can see inside (although the second floor is now office space, I think)

Thanks Locked In -
Looks like they are installing the fins on the lower part of the tower.

BTW - walked past on Seymour today and saw pallets of windows marked "ILJIN" - which is a Korean company.

The model appears to be the more current version to me. The office component also looks more true to the current built form.
