Doka XClimb Protection Screens

Kindly excuse the image quality...

Taken on my Blackberry Potato

I saw someone earlier post the address as 212 Illinois. We have it listed as 220.

These are the Protection Screens that were used at 500 N. LSD as well as 111 W. Wacker. Rebuilt and resheeted.

The screens move up with the concrete contractor, which on this building is Adjustable Forms.

They keep debris and other construction materials from blowing or falling off the building. The tops of the screens are set at an elevation that creates a guard rail system for the floor being formed / placed. A couple of the screens have integrated loading platforms so the contractor can cycle its deck material.

Just a question I haven't really been a member of the forum that long, just a question have things gotten better or the same as in pre 2007

Good to know, once these things hit the PD stage they are usually reasonably far along. Hopefully this one will materialize quickly.

^ Also, I wonder what happened to the project for the mid block site across from Cadillac Palace. With Randolph Tower reopening completed next door and Randolph Street becoming ultra hot on virtually every single block west of there until practically Oak Park (okay, make that Ogden), this is an even more prime site than before.

Like the Loch ness monster, Mrs O Leary's cow, and Bigfoot, 1 S Halsted will go down in history as one of the great mysteries of the ages.

How such a beautiful, well designed project in such a prime location where rents are high & views of the city are perfect, where access to transportation & jobs are impeccable, and during an era where apartments are in such high demand, a project can remain in limbo like this....just boggles the mind.

This was posted at SSC, and I can't figure out what project this is. Anyone know?

My initial reaction was if this is the wrong city (NYC?), but with the Yellow Cab and the Illinois license plate, this looks like Chitown

^A quick Google search will get you the answer you're looking for. It's 519 E Green, in Champaign. Looks like the same glass manufacturer as we have at Arcadia. BTW, what an unusual tower crane..

Cham-bana is starting to create a decent skyline. Considering how many Chicago area kids attend school there, the place is really a distant exurb; and as far as I'm concerned, fair game to discuss here in the boom rundown.

John Buck to present office proposal to panel

April 15, 2014

The Chicago Plan Commission is scheduled to consider Chicago-based John Buck Co.'s proposed 35-story office tower at 151 N. Franklin St. at its April 23 meeting, according to a legal notice. To build the John Ronan-designed structure, Buck agreed to buy a parcel at Franklin and Randolph streets, as well as development rights, from Chicago-based InterPark Holdings Inc.
