Those tiles by Face Shop have definitely been there for months (since Face Shop was Fruits & Passion!) and they're different tiles, but I think one set are the tiles upstairs.

Also new today, escalator to the 4th floor cinemas removed!

Some changes I think weren't noted before:
-Birks closed for renovations
-Armstrong & Co shoes appears to be closed for good
-Barber shop on the lower level now closed (temporarily?) and using a chair at Joseph's salon on the 2nd floor. For a while this area was still open with a sign letting you know that.

Whaaaa?! Crazy. I still can't believe I'll never see a movie there again....ahh the memories. Cineplex is dumb to not get in on the expansion and build a landmark downtown theatre (like the former AMC/now Cineplex in Dundas Square). A quality theatre with an adult section would do better here than at Lansdowne.

As I understand it, there will be two new escalators (one going up, one going down) going up the the 4th floor where the cinema used to be. There used to be only one that went up. Not sure exactly how that is going to work given the space constraints that are there now but it makes sense to have one in each direction if they are trying to make that level more accessible/attractive to new tenants. Jubilee Jewelers has a sign saying that they are relocating so look for that space to be renovated shortly. The elevator beside where Miss Tiggle Winkles used to be is being removed and rebuilt in the space where Koyman Galleries and Miss Tiggle Winkle's was. I believe Birks is moving to where Nine West used to be which is across from Banana Republic. They are making way for an expansion of Harry Rosen.

Jubilee is way overdue for a reno. It's very kitsch. An expansion/renovation of Harry Rosen is great for the mall, it will help attract more high end tenants. I wonder what could be in store for the former theatre space...will Simons extend into this space? It looks like a possibility in the rendering.

Is The Bay planning any renos? It is no where near as nice as other Bay locations across Canada and is a farce compared to The Bay at Bayshore.

They are currently renovating. A few of us had a short conversation about it on page 32 of this thread.

Page 6 of the planning rationale says:

The fourth floor/roof area will consist of an expansion of the existing cinema and will also include some storage space.

So I don't think it's been mentioned before, but Second Cup closed last week (I think), there's a Moving Sale sign at Magpie, and the brass inset maple leaves in the floor were removed some time ago in what was Eaton Court. Looks like this area will soon be a dry-waller's wet dream too.

Pink and Victoria's Secret are now open. Both stores look really good! Also, I think the new lighting is also installed on the third floor.

Little update of the day: Old Sephora now closed, new Sephora not yet open. With more an more of the floors on the 3rd floor changed, you get the feeling of brightness the new lighter floors are bringing to the space.

Last week I saw a sign at Sephora saying the new location would open April 17th.

I am starting to wish I had the foresight to invest in the drywalling industry....

I've been going to the Rideau Centre once per week and every time I go they've made lots of progress.

It is a tough project; the only way to speed it up is to close the mall completely outside of shopping hours, which has a ripple effect: buses would have to be moved off Mackenzie King Bridge onto Rideau Street much earlier (as early as 9:30 pm on weeknights and 6:30 pm on weekends) for safety purposes due to the lack of an easily accessible route to Mackenzie King Bridge. Even at a late evening service level, capacity might be a serious issue on Rideau Street with ALL STO and OC Transpo buses constrained to one corridor. Not very realistic...
