Well Josh, you just scored a bulls-eye with the first part of your prediction. If you're right about Home Outfitters, I'll really be impressed!!!

Hehe I'm getting good at this! So I'm thinking now, Pet Culture moves next to Rogers, and Home Outfitters fills the end of Northwest Centre.

They've updated the site plan for the Mapleton Centre

It shows another Quebec based clothing chain moving into the development. Le Grenier will be moving into Building "C", and will be the first store in this building to open.
http://modelegrenier.com

Also, the site plan indicates that Goodlife Fitness will be moving into the yet-to-be-constructed Building "G".

A friend of mine that works at GNC at Champlain Mall told me they will be moving next to Moxie's (building J,I, or H) in the near future. He was also saying that Mapleton Centre will be getting the biggest Goodlife Fitness in the region, which you already pointed out.

It is nice to finally see this development starting to get tenants, especially Quebec based shops, I am interested to see what else they can get.

It's about time Goodlife fitness opens up a location in the North End, that area was underserved. It also makes good business sense for GNC to move near to them but I think they would be best suited in bulding D or C. Seems like J, I or H would be good restaurant pads.

Agreed. This will be Goodlife Fitness' fourth location in the city and it's about time they opened in the northwest end. Interesting that it will be their largest location in the entire region.

Again agreed. It's pretty obvious that pads J, I & H are designed for restaurants or coffee shops. GNC would look pretty incongruous there. There's a nice empty storefront in Building D right next to the Bombay Company. It's just down the way from the proposed Goodlife location and would cater to the same clientele. You wouldn't even have to move your car to go from location to location. That's where they should go……

Marshall's in the Northwest Centre opens tomorrow.

This will be the first Marshall's in Atlantic Canada. They won't open in Dartmouth Crossing for another few weeks……

Works fine for me; of course most of the posts are mine…..

What sort of problems are you having??

Regarding the Mapleton Centre, we now know of four new tenants in the offing:
- Ashley Furniture Home Store
- Goodlife Fitness
- GNC Nutrition Centre
- Mode Le Grenier

This will bring the total number of tenants in the development up to 15. There are still lots of vacancies however.

This whole project is a big whatever! It's a depressing place to go and be. It's just another example of; build it and they will NOT come!
Even on Saturdays, the place is quiet. Some of them must be regretting their leases...

Once Costco, Cabellas and Princess Auto are open up the street the value of Mapleton Center will go through the roof...it will be 100% full in the near future I'm positive of that.

It's the management in my opinion, that is keeping this place from being full. If PlazaREIT, RioCan or Crombie REIT was running, I guarantee there wouldn't be the relatively poor selection of retailers that there is, AND it would be full by now.

It was more because of prolonged construction times (they had to excavate and stablize an entire hillside) that the character of the Mapleton Centre changed from what they originally envisaged. The delayed opening was exacerbated by the great recession, which changed the plans of a number of the original proposed tenants like Best Buy and Henry's Camera. The Mapleton Centre has been behind the eight ball ever since, although I agree that if a better known name like Plazacorp or RioCan were behind the development, that things would have been better.

In any event, things seem to be turning around slowly for this development - it just won't be so much of a destination shopping centre as originally envisaged……..

The possibility of Costco moving out to the Day & Ross site is purely speculative - unless you know something more concrete than the rest of us do. If so, then fess up mmmatt!!

We have obviously been discussing this for some time, but this new job posting indicates that VS will be opening this summer at Champlain Place, which to me means September, thus we now have a time frame for the opening of the store and renovations therefore must be imminent. Also, the job posting specifically mentions Pink, and this is the first concrete indication that Pink will indeed also be coming to Champlain Place, in addition to VS.

With such a large area for this store, and thinking of expansions in the past (H&M) How will Champlain claim over 160 stores and services ? At this rate, there will be 12 stores each 80 000 sq feet, lol. Does not seem impressive to state they are the largest mall in NB with what 100 stores? and not counting

It is always better to have big name stores rather many lesser know stores. Having Victoria's Secret open a large store is much better for the mall than having several lesser knowns
