Also, commuter rail and street car platform?

Great to hear. Was just walking past there Monday and discussing the need to connect ped's/bikes past the train track! People ( including me) are going to get accross them one way or another! Safe would be preferred!

Here's more on the Bowie underpass.

You know, it's actually going to look pretty nice. Obviously, just wish it were taller.

Sad. This is what is left of the Tom Stacey daydream for that block. Beware developers and their self-serving press releases!

This is amazing

At first, I was like "aw, this is weird, I don't like it" due to the awkward winding shape of it and the angle that it comes out of Sandra Muraida Way (why not come out at the middle instead all the way to the right like that?), but as I went on, I started to like it more and more.

For one thing, the stairway up to the street at the corner of 3rd and Seaholm Dr. is going to go a long way toward establishing real connectivity. Secondly, the funky design they're going to put in the pathway (with three different types of concrete) is really cool:

Third, they're going to be using a lot of cool decorative elements like these granite bat designs in (on?) the walls...

...and concrete blocks with guitar designs on them, and fence paneling that looks like piano keys:

On top of that, I think the excavating and landscaping will look really good (in about 10 years when the trees are fully grown). Maybe the whole thing is corny but I'm a sucker for cheesy Austin-themed crap like this. We have certain themes we identify with Austin, so we might as well accentuate them.

Some of the top 10 lists from the Census Bureau's latest estimates: http://www.census.gov/newsroom/relea...2013tables.pdf

Austin-Round Rock was the 8th fastest growing metro (7/12 - 7/13) at 2.6%.

Hays County was the 10th fastest growing county of 10,000+ at 4.1%.

It's time for the annual Urban Land Institute Marketplace event. All the developers with Austin projects underway or future/proposed Austin projects set up booths and you can wander through and look at renderings, scale models and plans for all kinds of interesting commercial development - hotels, apartments, condos, office, retail - all over Austin. Lots of handouts and giveaways too. I've been to several of these and its very informative and interesting. I put the link to ULI's website and registration at the bottom of this page.

Has anyone read the article in the latest Austin Chronicle citing an apparent final push by Mayor Leffingwell to push for a soccer stadium downtown connected to urban rail? The article cover shows a picture of a soccer stadium on Lady Bird Lake…yes, on the lake, with urban rail crossing the river through the stadium. Thoughts?

Do you know what the admission is? I'd like to go if it isn't too much. I wonder if they'd let me photograph the models/renderings??

Well, you did. Actually, it's dated March 28, though it sounds like an April fools joke. I'm aware of how outlandish this idea is. Just didn't know that the Chronicle prints gag stories.

April Fools!

But on a serious note, check out the picture of the indoor concert and light show. Now that is what Austin needs! Would be awesome if a venue like that could be built.

I had no idea there was a project under construction there.

Interesting name, "The G" ... that must be a nice spot.
