If that is the case I hope its in a nice prominent place on the first floor. Ideally with (or near) an entrance and or visible from the street.

UNIQLO and Nordstrom don't seem like a very obvious pairing at all. Nordstrom is very conservative and 'beige' IMO, not half as exciting as Holt's or Hudson's Bay. The stores have a very subdued energy, warm tones, little colour or 'wow'. I know that's being changed for the Canadian launch but I fail to see why UNIQLO would choose them for Canada and it'll also be interesting to see how the store in incorporated. A bit disappointing as a flagship, free-standing UNIQLO would be very exciting for our retail landscape.

I think if anything Nordstrom will have it as a section much like they have a Top Shop by Nordstrom section in their US stores.

It would be interesting if one of the doorways in the middle of the Granville frontage is for UniQlo (and not an emergency stair)

There are 2 sets of doorways mid-block (but I suppose they are both emergency stairs):

i can't see nordstrom devoting 30,000 sq ft to uniqlo

as others are saying it will probably be a section like their top shop sections in the states and than have a stronger online presence, you can get a lot more stuff online through nordstrom than through their stores, especially the top shop stuff

Glass awnings and ground floor space would look way nicer if glass awnings are moved higher up to the 3rd floor or even higher.

I am thinking the same, and with relation to Uniqlo it's all rumours and rumours only from what I understand.

So many places are reporting it as fact.

But then they would be non-functional.

Goodbye Safeway, hello Save-on

The Royal City Centre Safeway is no more. This afternoon Overwaitea Food Group announced its new Save-On-Foods location at Royal City Centre was officially open for business. Photograph by: Cayley Dobie/THE RECORD

...

Save-On-Foods’ new location in the Royal City Centre mall in Uptown is now open to the public.

Just days ago, the new Save-On location was home to Safeway, but after Sobeys Canada acquired Safeway Canada, the company was required by Canada’s Competition Bureau to sell some of its locations.

Overwaitea Food Group, a Jim Pattison business, bought 15 locations from Sobeys Canada, including Thrifty Foods in Sapperton and the Royal City Centre Safeway store.

On March 19, the Safeway store closed its doors and Friday afternoon it reopened as a Save-On-Foods after a quick two-day renovation.

...

Despite the change of appearance, shoppers will notice that the staff remains the same, because all employees of the former Safeway agreed to work at the new Save-On-Foods location.

Meanwhile, the Save-On-Foods in Westminster Centre, only a couple of blocks from the new Royal City Centre location, will remain open, and a third Save-On at Columbia Square downtown is scheduled to open this summer.

As for the Thrifty Foods in Sapperton, that location change won’t take place for a few more weeks, Overwaitea spokesperson Julie Dickson previously told The Record.

I wonder what they will do with the other Save-On-Foods up there. No way that it makes sense to keep it open - it is about 3 blocks away.

It's such Bullshit.... New West got screwed.

We now have what.... 6 Save-On foods in or very close to New West.. jeeze.

Save-On foods is so dumpy compared to other grocery chains in that price points.... I mean really what differentiated Save on's from the now gone Pricemarts..... which were budget to begin with.

Safeways deli was amazing.... Save - On's is like 5 green trays of crappy sides.

I bet Pattison was so cheap that it still looks like a Safeway on the inside they just scratched out the logo and put Save-On.

Thrifty's was definitely the stand out there a slight notch up from save-on.
