How does it possibly cost $360,000 per unit for townhouses?
maybe it includes the demo work etc. Didnt look at the numbers - though in the long run is probably a win for the neighborhood
would seem that a typical townhome in the burbs would be like 200-400K on sale (not cost) in new build - am sure there other factors that drive higher costs on the City side and how this gets built versus say a Toll price structure

for 1919 Market . Whereas the new design might be 10+ stories taller and closer
to 500' ...... or did I just have too much to drink that evening .....

Yeah, once they brought the second financing partner in there were numerous discussions about the design but from what I see they will be adding 30 more apartments to the project and shrinking the floor heights.

Gov. Cuomo and other state leaders are planning to tie Comcast’s $45 billion acquisition of Time Warner Cable up in knots, The Post has learned.
As first reported on NYPost.com, changes to state rules that would give cable regulators more power were put on the table during closed-door budget talks two days ago, sources said.
In addition to giving New York state’s Public Service Commission (PSC) added bite, the rule change would put the onus on Comcast to prove that its mega-merger with TWC is in the public interest, the sources said.
My initial response is no. I used to work in talent acquisition there and they are busting at the seams in their current building with additional headcount in other office around the block. At the same time the number of new positions that needed to be filled just in the department I worked in grew by 1000% year after year.
They need this building with or without TWC. The only thing I think that could hinder it would be an expensive legal battle or something like that but they are not a broke company looking for outside funding to stay afloat so that shouldn't be much of a problem either.

For one thing I don't think the FCC would take too kindly to a state body trying to regulate a television distributor. The FCC has made it very clear in the past that they are the only game in town when it comes to regulating the airwaves (and by extension the cable waves).
I don't really understand the whole reasoning behind TWC putting itself up for sale but I guess that's business. I thought there was no way the FCC would allow Comcast to buy NBC so I clearly don't understand these things but I don't think the FCC will stand in the way of Comcast buying TWC and if anything New York trying to interfere would increase the chances that the FCC will demonstrate they are in charge of the conversation by allowing the acquisition to occur.
The Salvation Army has agreed to give up its property at 22nd and Market streets for use as a memorial park, to honor the victims of the building collapse that killed six people last June, sources say.

It won't do anything to the proposed Comcast Innovation and Technology Center. Comcast needs that new tower whether the deal with TWC goes through or not. I agree with others that no deal could put a halt on any future towers though.

What kind of memorial park will it be when it is full of homeless people sleeping in it and buying food at the 7-11?? It will be actually detrimental to the development and image of West Market Street to have such a park on it. It will be like Love Park or Louis Kahn Park at night. And it will be a shame to the memories of the victims to have it be a trashy, scary park people avoid.
As has already been stated by a few members before me, this potential hiccup in the Comcast acquisition of TWC will have ZERO affect on the construction of the CITC. That building will go up regardless of the TWC deal.
Now, I will say this has potential to derail the THIRD Comcast tower being constructed. What third Comcast tower, you say? Well, I do have a few sources in the know and there are some plans on the table for constructing a third tower, with potential announcement this Fall. I have zero detail on height or location (however, I suspect the NW corner of 19th and Arch). My understanding is a great deal of the office space COULD be for positions created/moved from the TWC acquisition. This seems more plausible now, considering that Cuomo is trying to slow up the merger and potentially prevent any jobs from leaving his state.

Totally agree. Can't they just make some kind of requirement to incorporate a small memorial in any plans for the site, or something?

Real shame this is going to be a park. Probably a FU to developers by the Salvation Army. Weren't they holding out and refusing to sell?
What about the Women's Shelter down by Broad and Arch. Another Salvation Army building. Every time I walk by that place I wish it was converted into a high end restaurant or private club. Such a waste.
