Definitely. Now if only Vancouver would allow some towers with a little Manhattan spirit.

Yes I think it sucks.

If I wanted to see concrete piles stacked behind more piles of concrete I'm sure as hell not going to pay a premium for it downtown is lousy with 'views' like that.

OTOH maybe the people paying a premium know something I don't maybe they have a special aesthetic sense that allows them to ferret out things plebes like me will never know exist.

Pigs might fly too-they might.

Here in Toronto there are a few popular rooftop restaurants, Canoe being the best of the bunch. They do well here but only when they offer good fare.

I'll be sure to grab a post work drink at the new bar up there next time in back in van.
Agreed - at nighttime a city view is better than staring out at the "nothingness" of a water view.

Shark Club Vancouver Closing

http://www.vancitybuzz.com/2014/03/shark-club-vancouver-closing/

Quote:
The Shark Club Vancouver opened its doors in August of 1993 and now, after two decades, it will be closing its doors next month.

The operators of the popular downtown landmark have told staff they have decided not to renew the lease.

The Rumpus Room on Main served it's last meal tonight. Making room for more bland condos. Yay!

So looks like Shark club will reopen later in the year and remain the Shark club, but under the same ownership as the rest of the chain.

Also Waterfront Station has leased the space next to A&W that was briefly fresh slice. It'll be SKK Italy, don't think I've ever seen it, apparently it's an Italian fast food joint that also sell kebobs...

There was a sign for an SKK Italy on Robson in Galileo (@ Homer) - it's been there for ages and hasn't opened (though I could be wrong about opening).

It was very popular dump then. Have no fear I'm sure the culinary delights of JoeysCactusClubBrowns will be coming to Main Street soon.

^ When the news of that broke the knee-jerk reaction was "condos!" Then it turned out to be a rental development.

That whole area will be full of towers in five years. Here's a development planned next door. We're talking about it in the Marine drive thread
