I think the solution is fair to existing license holders. They worked hard to get those licenses as part of the private liquor store expansion.

I think it also points out that booze wasn't really that hard to find...

according to a news report i heard a BCGEU guy said the only way a grocery store can get a license is buy an existing one and he didn't expect to see beer and wine in grocery stores that soon

1100 Block Robson Update :

The former Moxie's space has been leased to All-Star Ribs and Wings complete with a 'stars and stripes' logo, looks and sounds classy. Anyone heard of it? At the very least the space will be occupied, anything is an improvement for this corner.

Retail Insider posting that the Apple "flagship" for Vancouver is actually a new PC mall location under Nordstrom, so in other words NOT a flagship, unless there is some kind of street entrance.

We have amended our previous article to reflect that this will be a 'substantially larger' Apple Store, not a 'flagship'. Thank you dreambrother808 - we've retracted the term 'flagship' from our previous article as a result of your feedback, as well as that of others (Thank you Built Form!). We scrapped the previous article - the link to our new, updated article can be found here: http://www.retail-insider.com/retail-ins...ore-to-open-at-vancouvers-pacific-centre

That's too bad, I was gunning for a highly visible location as Apple Store buildings are often visually stunning and are considered trophy retail for any world city. For this reason, I almost wish the Pacific Centre mall portion was not being expanded, we need as much flagship retail at street-level as possible, not hidden in a corridor underground.

Apple has been wanting to expand their Pacific Centre store for a while, as far as I know this is not instead of a flagship but in addition to.

Good to hear. That location definitely needs some extra room but it would be nice to add a real flagship to one of our streets.

Yup, it's just a boring expansion, not a flagship. Retail Insider blew it.

I thought the Apple store in PC was closer to Holt Renfrew and across from Harry Rosen, north of Georgia. How can it be an expansion if it is a part of Nordstrom, which is south of Georgia. If I'm not an idiot, is it moving+expanding, or adding a satellite to expand?

The basement floor of the formers Sears / EATON'S building will not be part of Nordstrom, it will be an additional block of Pacific Centre's lower level, so a continuation of the mall all the way to Robson Street. We're guessing that's where the new larger Apple Store will locate.

The former Bell store at L'Atelier on Robson has a sign up for "Hubbub", which is apparently a sandwich shop:

A co-worker says that the Pier 1 Imports in Kerrisdale is closing down.

Don't hurry down looking for deals they're already down to flogging the fixtures.

Retail-Insider is reporting rumours that UniQlo will be entering Canada via Nordstrom.

Could this account for the relatively large size of the Vancouver Nordstrom store?
