I wonder whether the address refers to the SW corner or the SE corner of Financial and VB. They're both 1 story at the moment. The SW corner is more of an eyesore.
Has to be the SW corner, right? That (171 W Van Buren) is the address for the Dunkin Donuts.

SE corner is way too narrow (on Van Buren), unless they demolish the pedestrian parkway to the east of the structure. I've always admired 235 W Van Buren, but that immediate area is kind of dead on Sat/Sun that it's almost eerie. This should add some more needed density!

It's the SW corner, judging by the pic.

I'd love to, but how do I "send" you a desktop PDF file? Sorry, I'm so computer illiterate it's ridiculous.

Catalyst, 3-11-14

Catalyst really adds some nice texture when you're looking down Washington.

I extracted the images for him and sent them back. If he doesn't post them by tonight I'll do it.

If the address is 171 W. Van Buren, then it would be on the southeast corner of Van Buren and Wells. Wells is 200 West. There are a bunch of fast food lunch spots for loop office workers at that site. I say bulldoze the structure, and start with the caisson work already! But, there is the potential for condo owner NIMBYS at 235 W. Van Buren who will complain about their view being lost if this is built.

According the the city zoning map, its zoned DC 16. What does that mean for a proposal of this nature (40 story 225-275 units)?

Nice! It actually compliments 235 pretty well.

Wow, you know there's a glut when we start seeing proposals in the no-mans-land of the SW Loop...

Expect there be a public community for the 740 N. Rush hotel project in the near future.

It's being designed by NOOR Architects (http://norrlimited.com/default.aspx)

Brownstones to the west will remain.

A bit more than 600 rooms.

I hope one day that the Clinton Street subway or some variation of it gets built to incentivize more development in the southwest Loop.
