More on the FMC split

This is more than a stock split. FMC will actually split into two independent companies. Wow!

I reposted the link:
http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/inq-p...nerals-to-share-new-Philly-HQ-tower.html

This is big news. Philly will actually "gain" another company. The two companies will grow independently of each other. This is awesome.

Summer has come through again. This is one of the two sites summerism spoke of recently that Toll Brothers will build. The bigger one, at 19th & Walnut, is due to be announced soon as Summer indicated the deal was being "finalized."

Go Summer!!!!!

That's what i was talking about. Not a "split" as in you get two shares for every one. It's called a "split up," which is essentially a bifurcation of the company."

Very exciting news and once again Summer called it (although Toll isn't involved but who cares!). Initial renderings are a relief - no red brick! That is actually a pretty remarkable feat considering the location and propensity for developers in that part of town to emulate (poorly/cheaply) nearby structures (cough...American Revolution Museum... cough).

Rumors abound about a Wegman's coming to Broad and Washington. I always believed they stayed out of urban centers, but we will see if this pans out.

I was told by someone at Toll Brother's that they were involved

Maybe they partnered with the developer and they're the builders for the project? Any who, 19th and Walnut Toll is the developer, designer and builder.

I don't think pessimism is necessarily the word--i'm just skeptical that given the bureaucratic and agency nightmare that this job will entail, and knowing how many other projects Drexel still needs to start that are absolutely vital in reconnecting U City with CC--is this the most optimum use of their resources and focus?

We'll all be excited to take advantage of the new "rail and station operations" at 30th street in the year 2042, it'll be a hoot!

The View at Montgomery, also known as Wanamaker Plaza, at 12th and Montgomery at Temple University is now complete and has been moved to the Completed Projects thread. The building includes market rate rental apartments and rises 14 floors at 214 feet.

Final photos:

I just cant get excited about a mall. Its unbelievable how many people how many dollars that mall attracts but its the ugliest sprawling eyesore I have ever seen. KOP/Valley Forge/Upper Merion is a planning disaster.

Given that its a beautiful natural setting makes it that more egregious. They could have built a small Portland out there but they bollixed and suburbanized the entire area.

It actually looks pretty nice in person and it replaced a surface parking lot for the old school that was on the site. There is still 2.4 acres of land behind this site that need developing! And a parking lot diagonal to this lot that could use a tower on it

Plenty of opportunities for more height in Templetown. Would like to see a few more 300 footers to build a mini skyline up there.

I like KOP Mall... and it attracts a lot of visitors, but the area definitely NEEDS to be urbanized. I would like to see Rail built to KOP and build up the area. Even 10 or so story office, residential and hotel buildings in the area would do wonders. Make it more walkable. Think DC-esk or Tyson's Corner.

I would like to see both KOP and Center City succeed with high end retail becoming the shopping meccas of the region.

The development in Tyson's Corner is nuts but I wouldn't say it's walkable yet. We'll see what happens when they finish the Metro but right now they are just adding tall office parks with manicured lawns surrounded by highways.

I meant what they have planned for Tyson's Corner.

I would like to see the finished product for KOP be something akin to Rosslyn:

The only thing I could find is this,

http://navyyard.org/theyardblog/2013/10/...uare-capital-partners-at-201-rouse-blvd/

The new headquarters for Franklin Square Capital but that seems like it could be done with a mobile crane.

I do not see how KOP would reasonably be able to do this. Rosslyn is really just an extension of NW DC and has multiple subway stops along with walking trails into Georgetown and Foggy Bottom. I honestly think Rosslyn is more like University City and has little in common with KOP.
