Plus Europhile hipsters, who very much live in the city. Not sure, but I think they're driving Seattle & Portland's MLS attendance.

True, some of that. And that demographic is definitely not helped by the fact that it's in Commerce City. But I bet that demographic is larger on the West Coast than it is here anyways. There's also not a lot of counterculture cool associated with the Rapids. Makes me wonder what is different about the regular mainstream sports franchises in Seattle and Portland. Or at least in Seattle, why are the Mariners not the thing?

FTFY.. That's fine, competition is balanced now. Airball can focus on sports, and I'll focus on urban timelapse greatness...

I won't be subtle. That is not a sport. It's a Vegas act, orchestrated by referees who have absolute control over the outcome (unless folks are so incompetent that they can't hit free throws). Run, foul, whistle, toss toss. Run, foul, whistle, toss toss. Do something offensive. Cut to commercial. Run, foul, whistle toss toss. BORING.

I don't mind the game, and I'm short. I do get why people hate it; the final 2 minutes can be drug out forever.

What?! I love sitting around on the 405 for over an hour to get to the damn airport, or better yet, taking the rail through Compton to get to the damn airport. The airport itself isn't horrible..

Sepulveda Blvd for the win too. That street is all about winning..

True. I should have been more clear. I meant lacrosse, aka the sport where people say "brah."

That's because LAX is your origin/destination airport when you are flying there, so you're not getting the full experience. It is one of the last airports around where you have to go through security transferring domestic flights. It is the most obnoxiously laid out airport in America.

Oh I have no idea. Lacrosse doesn't exist to me. That's something those strange coastal people do. Like play polo and do yacht clubs and whatnot.

"A Malaysia Airlines flight carrying 227 passengers and 12 crew crashed in the South China Sea on Saturday, Vietnamese state media said, quoting a senior naval official.

The Boeing 777-200ER flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing had been missing for hours when Vietnam's Tuoi Tre news quoted Admiral Ngo Van Phat as saying he had asked boats from an island off south Vietnam to rush to the crash site.

The flight left Kuala Lumpur at 12.21 a.m. (11.21 a.m. ET Friday) but no trace had been found of the plane hours after it was due to land in the Chinese capital at 6.30 a.m. (5.30 p.m. ET Friday) the same day."

Thoughts and prayers to the passengers, as well as to family members, and friends, of the passengers.

Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777-200, similar to the one that crashed.

Is this the first ever 777 to go down?

LAX is absolutely the worst for connections. Try connecting from a Continental flight to an international flight. You get dropped off in some secondary terminal that looks and operates like it belongs in Pueblo. You have to walk right onto the tarmac, your baggage is thrown onto some cart along the way where there is no lighting, then you have to wait for a bus in a smelly cramped terminal building the size of your high school cafeteria, it takes 3 or 4 buses since the line is so long, and you end up waiting outside, get to a decent looking but functionally idiotic international terminal, go through security again, walk a really far distance, and finally go down some stairs with your luggage because there are no escalators. LAX is the JFK of the west coast, although JFK is worse because in addition to all the same problems as LAX, there is no cell signal, the people that work there are complete —, and their wayfinding signage is completely random.

No.

These are the only in-fight crashes involving a 777...

Last July an Asiana Airlines 777 went down on final approach to SFO. Pilot error is believed to be the cause of the crash. It came in too low and too slow. Three fatalities from this crash.

In July 2008, while also landing, a British Airways 777 crashed about 1,000 feet short of the runway at London-Heathrow. Something to do with ice crystals blocking the way so heat couldn't get to the engine. With that the engines stopped working and the plane dropped. No fatalities from this crash.

If this Malaysia Airlines has crashed, and all onboard have died, this will be the largest number of deaths involving a 777.

As of this moment, the exact crash site has still not been found, though Vietnamese aircraft involved in the search have found two oil slicks. Just keep praying for all those effected.
