Holy - wow!

I counted 50 (or so) floors above podium.

The way the rendering is oriented, it doesn't look like Aviara 2 will impede much of the view of Aviara 1 towards the NW. Better thought out then the older Gilmore Tower. Hopefully someone with more information can chime in with more details.

As seen from the intersection of Rupert and 1st ave, Aviara at only about 2/3rd finished is already nearly the highest building visible on the Brentwood skyline.

A 50+ story tower in front of it will be truly spectacular.

I also think the second tower will have a few very favourable features. That building lot is adjacent to Gilmore which marks the end of Brentwood Town Centre, to the West is BC Hydro, to the North will be the upgraded Wellington park, it seems like the views will be there to stay.

Would be tempting to look at some 40+ floor north facing units. Views of the North Shore should be spectacular.

Strange that a low profile building like this is aiming for heights greater than the now scaled back, and much higher profile Station Square towers.

I can't believe Burnaby is getting another "supertall" so to speak right after Metroplace and Sovereign. It just keeps coming like the beer that flows after work on Fridays.

Second super tower

Could be phase 2 of Aviara.
This building is across the street from Aviara. You can see in the renderings the existing apartment tower on the south side of Halifax street. The building at present on this location is a European sausage factory, across from the Hydro offices on Gilmore. The rendering also shows the terra sol which is right next to Aviara. This will be an impressive grouping then of three towers if it is also built.

Don't forget, Brentwood mall tower is supposed to be even higher. Only a hair below Trump and Shangri-La.

SoLo's Altus too won't be a pushover, supposed to be equivalent to 55 storeys when accounted for podium and over height low floors.

Aviara2, I must say is very visually appealing. Dare to say, unlike anything proposed in Vancouver.

It looks like you're right. Millenium is the developer for this tower. The Aviara towers are by Ledmac.

Good catch on Terra Sol. That definitely positions Gilmore Tower more accurately.

The links at the Dikeakos site work now (they didn't before). I've just posted the pics to the Burnaby Proposals thread.

Just looked at a map.
So Aviara 2 will be on the Terra Sol site and this one will be on the south side of Halifax.

Definitely will be a cluster.

If I am interpreting these renderings correctly this 50 floor tower will be placed directly in front of the first phase significantly blocking the dntn views of ALL the residents of phase I.

It looks like the skinnier side of Tower 2 will face Tower 1 - but yes, it looks like it will be west of Tower 1.

It would block the direct west view, but the way it curves towards the NW direction, I assume that some of the downtown view is preserved. Better for the NW units more so then the SW units.

On the bright side, it will provide some nice shade from the sun?

It's seems to be a normal practise that they first build and sell the towers that will have their best views blocked by the future phases. Nothing wrong with that if information on fully built-out complex is available, but I can't help but wonder how many buyers are still surprised to see a crane go up in front of their view sometime in the future.

The view from downtown - I think Aviara is the tower under construction near the middle of this shot. Not a great photo (through dirty glass):
